nmatsakis: I saw that you mentioned in your blog posts that associated type constructors could be useful for futures. Do you have some example or were you just assuming that ATC improves everything?

Zoxc: we've definitely hit the need for them higher up in the Tokio stack

aturon: Also any idea on how to make generators/stackless coroutines work with futures-rs' Future trait?

Zoxc: the main example we've hit is in our protocol library. there, we want a trait for protocols, which involves setting up a "transport" given an underlying I/O object

you want the transport to be monomorphized with that I/O object, but that means that the transport type is actually a type constructor

to work around that today, we put a type parameter on the trait itself, which makes it "leak" everywhere and is pretty annoying

basically, the `T` here https://github.com/tokio-rs/tokio-proto/blob/ma... should instead be a parameter of Transport here https://github.com/tokio-rs/tokio-proto/blob/ma...

re: coroutines, unfortunately i haven't had a chance to read that RFC yet, i'm too far behind on other things
