I'm hoping today to stabilise my latest code which gets rid of zma....
asker
good - thats a devil of a process
are you folks still planning on remove zms sometime? if so, what do you plan to replace it with?
ic0n
First off, I'm the only dev left... so I get to make all the decisions :)
At the moment I am thinking of merging it into zmc as a separate thread, turning it into more of a daemon
asker
have the others officially signed off or its a general lull?
ic0n
not officially, which is the problem.
asker
so what is the key benefit of merging it into zmc? zms today is a very thin shim anyway
and If I recall correctly, it handles the control POST messages does it not?
ic0n
the benefit of merging it into a thread is that it can access any of the live stream packets, including the h264 ones...
control POST? as in ptz? Nope.
asker
okay
so basically merging it doesn't need SHM buffer management or will that still be required?

shm will shrink, won'
won't need all the raw frames in shm.
that's long term though.
asker
ok so right how, its just about getting zms as a process eliminated and the benefits will come later. given there is currently one zmc per monitor running, how will this work with your multi-port apache add?

no changes anytime soon. BTW zms is going to be aroudn for a long time. At the moment I am getting rid of zma.
each zmc will listen on a port just like my current hack. it will also have a websocket...
