I was hoping there might be some utilization of GPU rigs for this to optimize performance, and reduce the demand on massive amounts of CPU

motion detection sounds like a perfect problem for a GPU (small, parallelizable tasks)

Is there a better way to add daemons than modifying zmdc.pl and zmpkg.pl?

Trying to package github.com/pliablepixels/zmeventserver for archlinux, and modifying files owned by other packages isn't kosher. So either there's a way to add a daemon without modifying those files, or I get to make a custom zoneminder package.
