        = nice!
      • jzaw
oh i shoot the raw img files separately ... mostly i just snapshot the bulk storage zdevs
      • tony1
I shutdown the vm once in a while and zfs snapshot the zvol. if I have an issue I can roll back
      • it works nice, saved me a few times
      • cittatva
i was just starting to think about how i'm going to get this working again if it blows up.
      • pliablepixels around?
      • jzaw
yeah tony1 youre doing it right ... shutting the vm down
      • but things like the bulk storage of nextcloud ... you lock the db back that up ... then just snapshot the file store
      • tony1
jzaw: allot of ways to do it. I just snapshot the whole thing, db files and all. its a small install.
      • jzaw
        yeah
      • just that i dont have to shut the vm down to do thta
      • tony1
thats the only problem really. you need to shut down before the ss
      • jzaw
i have a small script that powers up my backup server ... rsync's the db, snaps the zfs zdev, thus shuts down the backup box
      • s/thus/then
      • tony1
I rsync to a low powered arm device but someday is will be zfs s/r to another server but for now it works well
      • send / receive is powerful and not documented as well as it could be
      • cittatva
send/receive - is that part of zfs?
      • tony1
        yea
      • cittatva
        zoneminder featyre?
      • ok
      • i really need to check out zfs... i keep hearing good things
      • tony1
I like it! I also like ZM
      • try nas4free 11 it works well but there are other options like ubuntu and the new zfs module
      • quan
Can't figure out what the right Remote Host Path should be.
      • GerhardSchr joined the channel
      • GerhardSchr
        yes zoneminder works now!
      • LoadModule cgi_module modules/mod_cgi.so was not loaded -.-
      • quan
... or what actually works in VLC: /h264/ch1/main/av_stream?udp
      • knnniggett
quan: per the instructions in the link, use a source type or ffmpeg (or libvlc), not Remote
      • quan
        Yes using ffmpeg.
      • knnniggett
quan: No you aren't. "Remote Host Path" does not appear as a field when using ffmpeg
      • quan
        Check that: Source Path
      • ... is what I'm trying.
      • (sry)
      • In journalctl "ERR [Unable to open input /live.sdp/ due to: No such file or directory]"
      • knnniggett
I don't own any Hikvisions, but have you tried the ONVIF probe?
      • n3xjn has quit
      • quan
        No, how?
      • Schrottie
i got zm 1.3, 2 different hikvision and onvif does the job
      • knnniggett
Open a monitor and in the top right corner, you should see a link "ONVIF"
      • Sorry.... Edit a monitor
      • quan
Hang on, should Source path include *both* the host and path?
      • I don't see anywhere else to put the host.
      • knnniggett
It should be the same thing as the url you type into VLC
      • quan
"ERR [Unable to open input admin:secret@frontcam://live.sdp/ due to: Success]"
      • Huh?
      • Still nothing in the images dir.
      • It's under the impression that it's capturing around 250fps (huh>), yet the same success error.
      • over and over
      • tony1
look in your cameras UI and see what Resolution you have it set at an use that in ZM
      • you may need to restart ZM
      • knnniggett
VLC will report the correct resolution to use too. Plus that is an excellent way to verify you typed in the RTSP url correctly
      • quan
        K.
      • I may be close. My server's firewall is suddenly getting hammered with a million UDP requests from the camera port 8312
      • Makes sense as UDP is stateless.
      • asker
        cittatva - you called?
      • so cittatva - still facing event server issues ? only on IOS? how about desktop version of zmNinja?
      • cittatva
oh i didn't know about the desktop version - i guess that'd be a good thing to try
      • asker
yeah, just give it a shot - maybe I broke something on iOS
      • cittatva
i have a meeting in a few minutes, but i'll give that a shot as soon as i can.
      • asker
but also, are you not receiving any notifications in ios?
      • quan
Well now ZM is analyzing at a reasonable ~15fps. Before at 250, I guess that's free-running indicating it's not connected.
      • (camera's 20fps)
      • asker
the websocket will get disconnect when you move to background - that is where APNS should come in cittatva
      • cittatva
one other data point about the error that I don't know if it made it into the logs i sent, I'm seeing some logs in zoneminder about failed authentication about the time when i enable events
      • asker
        aha
      • well, I don't see any logs in zmeventserver either receiving a registration from zmNinja so thats odd
      • cittatva
i fiddled with permissions on /etc/zoneminder/tokens.txt and certs, but haven't gotten it to connect yet
      • asker
        does tokens.txt have any data?
      • quan
Still no ripping video in the images dir, even though set to Mocord.
      • cittatva
        didn't last night -checking
      • nope, no data. currently www-data:www-data 0777
      • /etc/private/tokens.txt ubuntu xenial
      • asker
yeah so for whatever reason, zmN is NOT sending any data over websocket (like registration) - looks like connection is dropping
      • so please install the destkop version of zmN and give it a spin and see if its registering
      • if it is, then I broke something in iOS (I have a long history of breaking perfectly functional stuff)
      • cittatva
ok, will do; might not be able to before i get home tonight.
      • asker
yeah no worries - I'll be here on IRC tomorrow too
      • (east coast time - just ping my handle - I may not be paying attention)
      • quan
"WAR [Buffer overrun at index 39, image 11739, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]"
      • Which buffer? The kernel, UDP, or ZoneMinder's?
      • gnulnx
        quan: ZM's
      • Monitor -> buffer tab
      • quan
        Ty
      • Nothing is identified as "Ring Buffer". Maybe it's Image Buffer Size".
      • 50 frames now...
      • I guessed 100, and now the Source went yellow?
      • Clearing the log, doesn't actually clear it I see.
      • gnulnx
yup, immage buffer size is it.
      • Give it a minute and if the monitor doesn't go green, lower the buffer some
      • quan
        Ah yes, thx
      • knnniggett
Make sure you didn't full up your ramdisk with that change: df -lh /dev/shm
      • quan
In my case it seems to be shm. 25%
      • ... that means it's consuming 1GB
      • But there is still nothing in my images dir, even though I'm on mocord.
      • pos joined the channel
      • knnniggett
Not sure what you are looking for ...events are stored in the folder named events
      • quan
        O. As it's recording all the time I thought there should be images.
      • Maybe those are snapshots?
      • Anyone know the URL for a Samsung with microphone?
      • Is it rtsp://ip_address/profile2/media.smp ?
      • Mine's a PNO9080R
      • knnniggett
Use the onvif probe to find the url
      • quan
        Oooo, nice.
      • knnniggett
You can also use the Onvif Device Manager to find it if you've got a Windows pc handy: https://sourceforge.net/projects/onvifdm/
      • quan
        Linux only here.
      • cittatva
oh, I think I might have got it working. I copied my certs out of /etc/ssl/private into another location, and set the owner to www-data:www-data.
      • i don't know why it wasn't working previously, since it was root:www-data 0660
      • even 0640 should have worked, i think
      • pos
cittatva, only the private key is supposed to be stored in /private, apache reads those files as root before dropping privs/shifting
      • quan
        I can't decrypt onvif probe. # zmonvif-probe.pl -v profiles frontcam 1.1 admin secret
      • no transport class found for scheme <frontcam> at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/SOAP/WSDL/Factory/Transport.pm line 83.
      • 1.2 gives the same.
      • knnniggett
you have to issue a "sudo zmonvif-probe.pl probe" first to get the profile names.... you do know you can do this from the web console, right?
      • quan
I did issue a probe bit it came up empty for both soaps. I have a very tight firewall though, so don't know if it needs a special port.
      • tony1
quan: it should probe on the http port
      • probably a camera firmware thing? it does not work with my cheep cams but other onvif utilities do
      • quan
All I get is Probing for SOAP 1.1, Probing for SOAP 1.2
      • Two cameras are out there.
      • Looks like zmonvif-probe isn't for me. Hik and Samsung cameras.
      • knnniggett
If you mean a software firewall, then turn it off for a moment. The machine needs to be able to see multicast hello messages.
      • This is the initial release of our onvif probe. The next release has some improvements to it
      • quan
Aw crap, I did something wrong. Turning off my firewall cut off the remote machine.
      • tony1
        zmonvif-probe.pl probe 192.168.1.123
      • should return something like http://192.168.1.123:80/onvif/device_service, 1.2,
      • no need for sudo from what I can see
      • I think ZM may follow bad links in the camera firmware but I am just taking a guess
      • knnniggett
You absolutely need to be sudo.... otherwise zoneminder can't read zm.conf (he is on centos 7)
      • tony1
        ahh
      • knnniggett
        -rw-r----- 1 root apache 1.3K Feb 4 2016 /etc/zm/zm.conf
      • tony1
with or with out sudo I get Can't call method "GetProfiles" on an undefined value at /usr/bin/zmonvif-probe.pl line 238
      • I think it is my chhep cams and something with the firmware / bad link in the firmware
      • no big deal just trying to pass information
      • knnniggett
might be. Did you try the lastest from the master branch? We made several imrpovements
      • tony1
no I did not, I don't know how to compile it. I know that sounds lame
      • maybe I will try tomorrow. I always hated building. LOL
      • knnniggett
Best way is to build a package... we've got instructions on our redtehdocs site for both debian/ubuntu and centos/fedora
      • readthedocs
      • come on fingers
      • tony1 makes poor excuse for being lazy
      • tony1
my stuff works, just trying to help
      • GerhardSchr has quit
      • quan
With firewall completely open, still no soap with onvif probe.
      • pos has quit
      • # zmonvif-probe.pl -v probe
      • Probing for SOAP 1.1
      • Probing for SOAP 1.2
      • HikVision DS-2CD2632F-IS, and top-of-the-line Samsung PNO-9080R
      • I'll guess at the Samsung's rtsp line.
