      • and then permissions
      • on said paths
      • zamba
this is like a moving target.. i feel i have to change this all the time
      • what is the correct path?
      • it's currently set to: /zm/cgi-bin/nph-zms
      • joao
        morning!
      • zamba: you must check you apache configuration and make it match with the paths on options

asker: your mp4 testing... were you using a video tag or something else?
      • asker
        video tag
      • ic0n
direct to file, or theough view=view_video
      • asker
direct to file. The view=video doesn't seem to be working for most folks usin the 264 branch
      • https://github.com/pliablepixels/zmNinja/issues... -- yet another person who reported view=view doesnt work - abishai - I think he is on the freebsd port
      • view=video
      • So ic0n here is the status so far, based on what Chris told me - the guy I was debugging with. See if any of this makes sense:
      • 1. When we started none of his videos were working on zmNinja Android. They worked in zmNinja desktop
      • compdoc joined the channel
      • 2. We also confirmed that using the Android browser (system browser, not Chrome), the videos did not play either
      • 3. When I trnascoded the videos to baseline and reduced scale to 1280:-1, it started working on my Android device (Moto E, Android 5)
      • 4. When _he_ transcoded it the same way, it did not work on his device (Nexus 6P). When he sent me that video, it worked on my device with zmN
      • 5. Finally, and this is a zinger:
      • He was on self signed SSL. When he bought a signed SSL certificate, all the videos using direct file path started working on the Android system browser, without transcoding.
      • wtf?
      • ic0n
wha? So... it was an SSL problem?! Weird. Well, my videos are not working, but I am going through view=video from storageareas.
      • compdoc
dont mean to butt in as I just joined, but I can open zm in my android browser and open/watch streams from there
      • asker
well, ic0n - not sure if it really was an SSL problem. The SSL problem fixed viewing vidoes without transcoding on the android mobile browser, but not in zmN android
      • ic0n - did you transcode?
      • ic0n
No. I'm thinking of adding transcoding to view=video so that we can support lower res/etc from what is actually stored.
      • asker
for now, can you just transcode one video like I did and see if it plays on your phone?
      • ic0n
I've got so many things on the go right now.... I'm hoping to get to the bottom of this.
      • asker
yeah sure, I can understand that
      • I'll dive into it after my coffee
      • compdoc - video ?
      • ic0n
yeah, hang on.... can you save me a moment and give me the command line?
      • asker
        or images?
      • sure
      • compdoc
        video
      • asker
        fmpeg -i 61-video.mp4 -vprofile baseline -vf scale=1280:-1 foo2.mp4
      • compdoc - on chrome or android's system browser
      • compdoc
one thing I have issues with is saving videos to my desktop (not android) from the gui, when I want to save something
      • let me look..
      • knackrack615 joined the channel
      • its the android browser name internet. let me see if chrome works
      • asker
        yes
      • compdoc
        both work
      • asker
okay, any chance I can get access to your instance for a day?
      • I want to see if zmN on android works and how your videos are being created
      • I just need access to one monitor with a few video events
      • compdoc
well, its video from cams around my home and I dont know you'
      • asker
        yeah fair enough
      • ic0n
um.. when loading by file... I get an image... but no controls.... so I don't know if it plays... but I get the image for both untranscoded and transcoded.
      • asker
        hmmm
      • you are using a plain video tag right?
      • ic0n
        yeah
      • I'll try adding video.js
      • asker
okay, which monitor should I be checking on your server ic0n ? I'll try with your instance
      • compdoc
its ubuntu server 16.04 and the standard package installed with apt-get. v1.30.0
      • mysql 5.7 was some trouble at first, but working now
      • ic0n
the first one is h264 passthrough. So is #15
      • asker
        ok
      • compdoc
asker, do you hace zm installed on ZM, or just using the browser?
      • crap
      • do you hace zm installed on android, or just using the browser?
      • asker
not sure what you mean by zm installed on android - its a web portal
      • compdoc
zm running on my rasp pi would be handy
      • asker
        ah
      • no I am not running zm on my phone
      • ic0n
asker: my stored events work fine when loaded directly. Problem must be with view=video
      • asker
okay just logged into your server - going to hide all but 15
      • whats #15's name ic0n ?
      • ic0n
        dcs-2310l
      • asker
        mid=15 is web6
      • I don't see a camera named dcs*
      • iconnor_ has quit
      • ic0n
oh, you are looking at p1. Um... I don't think any of those are using h264. You need to hit my personal server. zm.connortechnology.com
      • asker
        ah
      • same login?
      • ic0n
        I assume so.
      • asker
2/11/9 are the only configued monitors for my acct
      • can you add 15 and remove the others?
      • ic0n
        done
      • So asker I'm seeing different byte range behaviour between chrome on desktop and chrome on android
      • asker
you mean in response to the Range header?
      • I've noticed in non-transcoded videos, it stalls loading - but if it was a Range header treatment issue, then it should be uniformed.
      • irrespective of video
      • ic0n - so whatever you did to my profile - I see nothing now
      • oh wait some major CSS snafu
      • ic0n
the other thing is that the HTTP_ORIGIN header is https://gstatic.com when coming from android, whereas it SHOULD be the url of ZM.
      • asker
        its hidden under unfifiend variables
      • ic0n -issues with zm.connortech - I don't have permission to access
      • videos
      • ic0n - can you login as asker to your portal - you'll see whats going on

      • something wrong with api

I think video.js is actually caching the .mp4.... I can't get it to reload it.
      • asker
yeah I think thats a similar problem with videogular too
      • ic0n
        makes testing very difficult
      • gnulnx
        morning
      • asker
ic0n - so forcing events to use paths in your instance gives a 404 - example
      • ic0n
        yeah
      • asker
        and view_video doesn't work
      • so how are you seeing them?
      • ic0n
        I manually copied them elsewhere
      • try again now
      • asker
        same 404
      • ic0n
I'm not getting anything in apache logs... wtf
      • um.. that .mp4 doesn't exist
      • stick to vevents that have a thumbnail

      • asker
thats probably your device? I haven't configured mine yet
      • ok ready to load
      • ic0n
yes that's my device. It is loading the file in two chunks. I'm just wondering if that byterange_filter line is saying that it is only sending a bit of the file
      • asker
        yup it works
      • yes its possible - I think
