redx666: as far as I am concerned, you can do whatever you want with video and feature-h264 branches. No one else is doing much on them. Make them work, get them ready for merge. You can have comlete autonomy.
the work you do is exemplary.
shibboleth: What bug? you posted the same thing yesterday
rexd666
tgm4883: Is /tmp/mon running a rtsp streaming service? I am used to pointing at cameras. But anyway I found lots of issues with Remote Method RTP/Unicast which uses UDP in ffmpeg. Sometime I am going to debug ffmpeg and find it, found some hints as to the issue in ffmpeg mailing list but nothing acknowledging it and fixing. So if your stream is correct try using RTP/RTSP option in Remote Method it is the third option. See how that goes. Also befor
you do that try zmc -m 17 and you should be able to see messages about missed packets which will confirm it.

ic0n, hello
is there any other small chance for Debian Jessie ?
ic0n
acu: hello
maybe, but not until tomorrow
rexd666
ic0n: shibboleth is coming and going, will have to try and catch him before he gets fed up and gives up altogether
acu
I see, otherwise what would you recommend ? - the install went fine except starting the zoneminder - so is there a github or I need to compile it ? Is it as good as "packaged?"
tgm4883
rexd666: I switched to using libvlc and it's working now
ic0n
I have no idea acu. I on't knnnow what is wrong, you went away without giving anyinfo. First step: verify that the dbb was installed/created.. Next tep, look in to the logs. I t all worked fine for me in my vm.
acu
icon: what vm ?
jessie ?
perhaps I should install it without any repository adition ?
keep main (no contrib non-free or multimedia deb) ?
ic0n
I have no idea.. too tiree and drunk. Going away now.
acu
there were really no logs = that was baffling - but I can reinstall everything again clean

rexd666
tgm4883: yes then it is that option in ffmpeg, I wonder if I can make it the default instead as that seems to get everyone

ic0n: thanks for the feedback, I am really just feeling my way around. Not an on the tools dev anymore and was never C only c# a little bit in corporate before I moved to more architecture. So I am enjoying learning again. So far I am happy to work on fixing others work, as not confident enough to write my own stuff from scratch yet.
ic0n
I don't know... you seem to know what you are doing.
none of therest of us are all that comfortable either.

Well hopefully I am helping out and taking care of some of the less exciting stuff at the same time. We need to start thinking about planning some of our work to give it direction. Actually flag features for development and release. I know we are mostly fixing the bugs now, but we will need to move on IP stuff faster or lose relevance. I will see if I can pull something together for comments from people.
And I know we are resource constrained

The relevance thing is poignant. I have some thougts n how to stay on top. They fall along the lines of gpu, and other hardware support. There is an appletv card that decodes h264 that we could use. Also putting the motion detection into the camera.

can zoneminder save events as video, or is there only the functionality to convert the series of images to a video?
rob_h has quit
fixxxermet
tgm4883: We're working on saving as video (there is a mostly-stable branch of code), but for now you can only save as images and export to video
fixxxermet: thanks I might try that. Is that something that is planned for the next release?

ic0n, hello, I was wondering whether I should try again your .deb jessie for 1.28 ? I can install from scratch again a new jessie machine - I install it on bare metal - I have some virtual machines - but I do not know how to pass succesfully and with certainty the usb webcams I use to test zoneminder
