Generally, we don't have to post signs indicating the presence of cameras as long as there is no "reasonable expectation of privacy"

signs= no

dym: laws differ from place to place, even in the 50 states of the US. Some consider audio recording part of wiretapping, so you can't do it without the consent of one or both of the individuals, depending on the state

like knnniggett said, in most states u cant record if they have a expectation of privacy, like a bath or bedroom

Also thought about writing up a short note and throwing into neighbours letterboxes

since im planning to deploy another Pan/Tilt cam right in front of our door

is ur camera recording them in any way or their property?

my driveway camera partly shows the next door neighbours driveway

if thats the only one, then you may just make nice and tell the neighbor up front

it wouldnt fix the issue, since im still filming "public room"

anyone driving past, walking past could be recorded

as long as u dont have them or their property in your view, I think they have no case against ur cameras

u could argue its a public street, no expectation of privacy

i think many cases were lost that way

I would check the laws in ur area, but im sure u should be fine filming a public street

in this case you walk towards the side of the house. It's not SUPER SUPER obvious, but if you walk towards the house it's in direct eyesight. even with parked cars.

nah - the street begins at the sandy pit

nothing is groovy until that libvlc problem is solved

rveach: i actually investigated quite a lot before putting up my cams

and opinions were mixed

dym: In ffmpeg try playing with unicast vs rtsp/rtp options, looking at the ffmpeg code and wireshark this swaps between UDP and TCP. Under UDP I get lots of lost packets in ffmpeg and often get half an image, swapping to rtsp/rtp is seems to reduce the issue, still testing it and different cameras but might help you
