can zoneminder tie together a dvr based system and ip cam that are diff vendors?
dym
knnniggett: even kinda referenced you :O
knnniggett
saw that. I'm interested in knowing how to troubleshoot this.
also
dym
it's kinda funny. im located in .de and you're obligated to put up cleanly visible signs for video surveillance if there could be the possibility of you filming public room
Where are you from?
knnniggett
dym: I just noticed something. You may need to just install libvlccore5 & libvlc5 libraries

I am from the St. Louis area in the middle of the USA
dym
not on repositores

i have libvlccore7 installed
knnniggett
Oh, I see that now.
dym
:)

Generally, we don't have to post signs indicating the presence of cameras as long as there is no "reasonable expectation of privacy"
dym: so do you have traffic cameras in deutschland and are there signs posted indicating such? just wondering

dym
knnniggett: traffic cameras= yes
signs= no

dym: laws differ from place to place, even in the 50 states of the US. Some consider audio recording part of wiretapping, so you can't do it without the consent of one or both of the individuals, depending on the state
like knnniggett said, in most states u cant record if they have a expectation of privacy, like a bath or bedroom
u could tilt that camera more to the left to fix the issue
dym
it wouldnt fix the issue, since im still filming "public room"
anyone driving past, walking past could be recorded
rveach
as long as u dont have them or their property in your view, I think they have no case against ur cameras
u could argue its a public street, no expectation of privacy
dym
i think many cases were lost that way
also i dont want to make a fuzz really
rveach
fuzz?
dym
fuss
rveach
oh
dym
sorry
:D
<-- .de after all
i have the sign that keeps me from beeing sued
rveach
i was thinking something else when i saw that lol
dym
so if people DP complain
DO
i can always say: "well - should have looked at the sign"
rveach
is ur sign on the front of the house? where it can be seen if i walk up to your house?
dym
but the IR Led's of the driveway cam are super-obvious
rveach
ur picture i saw it in, made it look like it was the side of the house
dym
Well
d3im0s has left the channel
rveach
I would check the laws in ur area, but im sure u should be fine filming a public street
dym
in this case you walk towards the side of the house. It's not SUPER SUPER obvious, but if you walk towards the house it's in direct eyesight. even with parked cars.
nothing is groovy until that libvlc problem is solved
rveach: i actually investigated quite a lot before putting up my cams
and opinions were mixed

dym: In ffmpeg try playing with unicast vs rtsp/rtp options, looking at the ffmpeg code and wireshark this swaps between UDP and TCP. Under UDP I get lots of lost packets in ffmpeg and often get half an image, swapping to rtsp/rtp is seems to reduce the issue, still testing it and different cameras but might help you
