when I attempt to run a certain application, Wine Staging 2.8 states that msvcr90.dll, mfc90.dll, and msvcp90.dll are missing <https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/24702257/> despite me installing the VC++2008 run-time libraries using `winetricks vcrun2008`. the problem doesn't occur when using Wine Staging 2.6. is this a bug?

m4sk1n: depends on what you are interested in. There are for example a lot of internal changes to make some anti cheat engines happy.
hmc
m4sk1n: have you also tried 2.7?
m4sk1n
DarkPlayer: ok, asked just to know is there any noticeable progress
hmc: I always use latest wine-staging
sometimes with laino patches

hmc: iirc, 2.7 is also affected. I'll double-check

Maximo_: 32 or 64 bit prefix?
Maximo_
I'm using a 64-bit OS, but it happens even if I explicitly create a 32-bit prefix
Maximo_: just to make sure, have you checked if it works in the dev branch?
Maximo_
slackner: I'll check that too
hmc
yes, it could be a regression there or between staging 2.6 and 2.7
slackner
Maximo_: i just tested it myself, and for me it also doesn't seem to work with the dev branch
Maximo_
slackner: I've just found the same. I'm trying to find which version it was introduced in
now it doesn't even work in staging-2.6. what the hell? it must be a problem with winetricks, then
wine-staging-2.6 + winetricks-20170327 works. the latest version of winetricks causes the problem
DarkPlayer
austin987: some work for you ^

yep, it seems to be a bug in winetricks, not wine. I must have updated winetricks while installing different versions of Wine and come to the wrong conclusion. oops!
