getting this on an updater for a program:fixme:shell:URL_ParseUrl failed to parse L"Microsoft.VisualBasic"

and a whole lot more of these parseUrl failed errors

yes

.NET often tries to parse some text as url, they most probably were too lazy to check if it is a real url and try various functions on it to find it out ;-)

trhe program itself works fine but the updater fails

only thing that is a bit off is the format of the GUI

did you try whether it works without the wininet override?

i never set that override as far as I can remember

okay, the were same ras calls which you can see typically when setting wininet to native

could be a bug in wininet / winhttp, but this is just a wild guess. I think your best chance is to open a bug report.

since the .NET code is open source and the application does not require the game, your chances of getting this fixed soon are quite good
