reported what's probably a directx7 bug. Have little hope of it being fixed due to being dx7
      • NP-HardBot
04Bug 38001: normal, P2, ---, wine-bugs, UNCONFIRMED , Vulcan Software Valhalla Classics episodes have partially drawn windows
      • i30817
can you install directx7 with winetricks?
      • or even just install it
      • fracting joined the channel
      • jarkko
i30817: why dx7 is so more unlikely?
      • i30817
Because it's old and not the same api as dx8 and 9 but different interfaces and code
      • also i finally tested the D:OS patch to avoid the infinite cycle relating to locale, and it doesn't work here doh. Now i feel guilty for waiting for so long to test because i wasn't playing and another had said it fixed it for them
      • (you need to change certain locales when starting divinity: original sin or it will not display the window on startup)
      • jarkko
        D:OS patch?
      • i30817
it's in this bug report by me: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36854
      • NP-HardBot
04Bug 36854: normal, P2, ---, wine-bugs, UNCONFIRMED , Divinity Original Sin Gog version does not display graphics after patch
      • i30817
ignore the rambling in the original post, the cause is found later in comments
      • or at least, the probable cause, since the patch failed, but the workaround works (workaround is change the locale to en )
      • jarkko
do you have any idea if its documented by M$ anyway how much dx has changed between years
      • i have seen lot of those locale issues lately
      • i30817
        i don't follow ms apis so i wouldn't know
      • it's a mess in gnome 3
      • i swear that sometimes it changes by itself
      • i haven't seen it in a while so maybe that got fixed
      • speaking of locale i got to test the earlier version of the D:OS patch, forgot
      • Doesn't work either, now i'm paranoid
      • jarkko
cant test dont have that game
      • i30817
        well i kickstarted it so
      • serpent in the staglands is looking like a sweet darklands/baldursgate1 spiritual successor; and underrail a sweet fallout2 spiritual successor if you're looking for something.
      • and there is Torment ofc
      • austin_laptop
i30817, dx7 bugs are still valid; no you can't install it with winetricks

      • [06staging/master] 02Sebastian Lackner: Added patch to fix crash in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II when winmm is set to native.
      • i30817
the D:OS actually works, i was the problem :P
      • when i first tried the patch with a 32 bits compile i had a 64 bits prefix for the game (from the gog install), so when i 'saw' this message
      • "wine: '/home/i30817/.wine' is a 64-bit installation, it cannot be used with a 32-bit wineserver." i just assumed it was for the executable and started using the 64 bits wine git compile to test... which falls back to the system 32 bit wine

      • NP-Hardass

      • felixonmars
        :O
      • so you used bugzilla
      • slackner
felixonmars: you haven't seen the wine-staging bugtracker yet? ;)
      • felixonmars
yeah, just saw it the fiirst time
      • NP-Hardass
felixonmars: or the bot announcing it :)
      • felixonmars
glad that it's not ugly as winehq's (runs
      • slackner
        felixonmars: xD
      • NP-Hardass
felixonmars: it is the default theme... winehq's is ugly because they made their own theme (and they are like the only ones that I know who do)
      • slackner: I *may* have a functioning copy of starcraft II. I'll look this evening if no one has tested before then
      • felixonmars
        :P
      • NP-Hardass
@remind me in 9 hours to test if I can reproduce bug 41

slackner: sc2 was run on 1.7.34 there are some unknown nvapi functions called
      • NP-Hardass
slackner: oh btw, the yahoo pipes thing, I think is a bust. I think github is rejecting the user-agent for yahoo pipes. so no good
      • slackner
titan38_: i noticed that, but that doesn't necessarily mean its critical
      • titan38_: there is also no crash in the log, so i am not sure
      • titan38_: before asking the user to try out lot of different ideas, it is easier if someone here could quickly test it
      • NP-Hardass: hm
      • NP-Hardass: well, i guess we'll have to find a different solution then ... mail parsing maybe? :P
      • NP-Hardass
slackner: we can still use the api referenced in the yahoo pipe implementation to get the the issues in json format, and then handle that
      • titan38_
slackner: yeah I saw for the crash
      • NP-Hardass
      • slackner: or we can try to do: https://github.com/ProgVal/Supybot-plugins/tree... which unfortunately would require running a webserver and opening a port
      • slackner
NP-Hardass: well, that one looks a bit earlier, at least it is ready-to-use ^^
      • *easier
      • lol
      • NP-Hardass
slackner: yes a project for the weekend though
      • slackner
NP-Hardass: i'm also fine with a self-written plugin, but not sure if you (or someone else in here) is motivated enough to do that
      • NP-Hardass
slackner: I have enough other things to do XD
      • @remind me in 5 days to see if the github plugin for the bot works
      • NP-HardBot
NP-Hardass: Okay, will remind in 5 days, 0 hours, and 0 seconds (id: 21)
      • NP-Hardass
slackner: if you want to try to get it running before that, let me know and I'll hook you into the vm again
      • slackner: I suspect you won't though XD
      • slackner
NP-Hardass: having irc bot features is a nice addition, but the wine-staging patches are more important for now ;)
      • titan38_: whats the current state of that mipmap patch? is it worth reviewing / improving / adding CSMT support ?
      • jarkko joined the channel
      • fracting1 has quit
      • titan38_
slackner: no progress I was busy with the usb patch
      • slackner
titan38_: kk, but what is your opinion? is it worth investigating this issue for the next release, or just a waste of time / too ugly to add it?
      • titan38_
slackner: I'll test csmt to see why it does not work but hey I've never tried csmt...
      • slackner
titan38_: kk - btw, does the patched wine repo work with stg ?
      • titan38_
slackner: I think the self contained changes ugly patch may be acceptable if it works with csmt
      • jarkko
don't know if its wotrh to mention but origin works really weird with native wine for, it loses focus easily out of desktop, no such issues with wine-staging
      • also don't know if the game install works anymore like it should
      • titan38_
slackner: if we want to do it the proper way we will have to rewrite a lot of infrastructure to manage things at texture level and I don't think we have the knowledge to do that w/o having big regression
