keturn: I have no food preference. However I would strongly prefer a large, quiet venue conducive to conversation:). The average pub is terrible for that, although there are notable exceptions. Please choose accordingly :)

I share your preference in this regard. In practice, I find "place that can seat a large group" and "quiet" are often non-intersecting sets. But we can at least do something that doesn't go out of its way to be loud.
(like the bowling alley my last company holiday party was at, ow my senses)
