Is there a reason (other than the usual "no one wrote it") why Twisted shouldn't magically switch over from select to kqueue if someone say schedules more than N concurrent fds to watch
      • foom2 is now known as foom
      • runciter
tos9: twisted should choose kqueue on platforms that support it
      • just like it chooses epoll on linux
      • so if you've got a platform with kqueue and a twisted with select something's awry :)

runciter: kqueue isn't picked on OSX
      • for reasons I forget
      • exarkun
osx kqueue implementation is made out of trash, I think
      • I think ... it doesn't support PTYs, maybe? It's been some years since I thought about it. Also, since I checked how well it works.
      • runciter
kqueues on macOS 10.9 and later supposedly understand PTYs
      • it looks like my citation is something exarkun said on stackoverflow
      • so, there you go
      • i guess we can check the macOS version somehow
      • but i don't have access to a macOS computer running an operating system later than 10.9 so i can't write the PR that does that
      • foom
holy crap, they actually fixed kqueue to support arbitrary devices, even
      • wow.
      • (not with twisted's kqreactor, tho, since twisted doesn't specify KQ_NOTE_LOWAT, 1 in the control message, as specified in the docs)
