i'm in milan now. apparently Ver is arranging a side meeting with free beer or something :)
proslogion has quit
arubi
is there a beer limit per person or is it emergent consensus? :)
proslogion joined the channel
proslogion
yeah i knew that, throwing money around like a parvenu
waxwing
isn't he openly bribing miners now?
proslogion
dunno and don't care what he is up to as i cannot make sense outta it
waxwing
proslogion: would it be considered gauche to start "MW classic" without pairing crypto, already? :)
proslogion shrugs
proslogion
actually you can do sequential segregated signature if you don't care about OWAS, and wants scaling only
not sure how good it translates to MW's mechanism
waxwing
this is the gray area i was getting confused about. say we have a signature which is summable/aggregatable but not "sinkable". so i think we could just use schnorr for that? or is the interactivity required for that a killer?
proslogion
no, it's basically you pick up sigs from existing blocks, and aggregate with them
i only know that it works for RSA
waxwing
oh right simple schnorr would not be "aggregatable" like that, it's not the same thing as just multisig
i'm not sure that defn maps exactly to what MW wants; in MW you're always just combining your current sig on a new excess with an existing sig on an existing excess, to create a new, valid sig on the sum of the old and the new excess. ('excess' here is basically pubkey, message is actually block height in the proposal)
i mean maybe it's that it could fit into that model (multiple pubkeys and messages given, here's a new one)
proslogion
the thing is you will know the order that the signing takes place
waxwing
right, that sounds bad :) is that the RSA one in that section?
i saw two different schemes i think
proslogion
yes, the general one is just BLS
waxwing being in Milan, still reading crypto papers
waxwing
proslogion: i would go shopping for handbags but your compatriots have priced me out of the market :)
Atm ETH's uncle rate is 60%, what does that translate to? 6 out of 10 blocks mined will be on forks, many pools have uncle rate >50%, such a high uncle rate means the pps pool like f2pool has to make up for the miner's losses, with a big net loss for the pool each day we have to resort to reduce our uncle rate by having some of the nodes mining empty blocks, not even mentioning profiting, hopefully eth devs will speed up in fixing the bugs"
