CarlFK: keep your eye out for cheap flights. we don't have the budget for $2.5K worth, but you can get cheap flights i can probly cover (i'm flying to and from portland soon for $700 USD)

xfxf: I'm currently planning on doing a micropython on FPGA tutorial at PyCon AU - so will probably be spending time working on that

but i'm intending on preparing that *way* before the conference because prepping it and running a team ain't gonna work

also may be too introductory for a developer conf, we'll see

CarlFK: the $700USD flight was more dumb luck and it's a 3-leg flight (via NZ) which i'm living with, but my point is you often can get them for $1K or under. keep ye eye out

where we usually get bitten is only having budget confirmation 1-2 mo out from the event, which makes things expensive

~2-3+ mo you can usually get good deals
