mithro: also want to know the state of current firmware (and if the 'input0 on' thing is fixed), am doing an event in a fortnight
at this stage i'll run existing firmware and write a script to do that when a new input is detected (using debug messages)
but that's a bit kludgy

CarlFK: Looks like a patch is failing to be applied properly - the .debian.at.xz is included in a patch somewhere, but quilt doesn't like patching binaries

i may not be there until ~5, need to be here until 1 (tradie coming in the morning who didn't make it yesterday :/). i'll ping you when i'm omw
the ansible stuff is very debian-centric, so i'll probably pack one of the laptops we used too so we can copy stuff directly off it if it's easier
assuming you want a hdmi2usb build environment, i think the install scripts are super ubuntu centric
worst case scenario we can always debootstrap a chroot, but that's the ugly solution :P
when you say you have spare devices, do you mean spare as in you have lots with an OS already installed we can do stuff with, or do you have spare x86 devices that we can wipe and put ubuntu onto?
if not the latter, i have plenty of spare core 2 duo's which you can have for a while, i don't need them
