tumbleweed: poke again re hackfest registration. keen to get data in as we want to organise the accom for the event
      • CarlFK: you're bringing 2 cameras, right? apparently mithro has plenty of opsis's, maybe bring the atlys's as backup?
      • i'm keen to avoid mixing too much of our stuff up, gets uber confusing otherwise. different model cameras + atlys's are different enough that it won't be confusing tho
      • tumbleweed
xfxf: when I've booked tickets, I'll register
      • I think I'm ready to book
      • thinking of arriving on the evening of the 9th
      • (and continuning to south africa via the US, otherwise cost and complexity just gets insane
      • xfxf
ah neat, 9th is monday, so that's early in the week - sounds good to me
      • and ack, sorry, obviously flight booking is before filling in the survey
      • mithro
tumbleweed: so, survey filling out :-P
      • tumbleweed
        mithro: same deal
      • mithro
Oh, I misread your message as "I've booked tickets"
      • tumbleweed: you can edit your response, so no harm in filling it out now
      • tumbleweed
I can do better than that, and book the ticket :P
      • did flights for CCC last night, which were ludicrously expensive, so I'm well numbed now
      • CarlFK
xfxf: yes 2 cameras. the opsis/Atlys are just for the hackfest. unless you need them for LCA
      • mithro: do you want me to bring Opsis / Atlys?
      • mithro
CarlFK: I think you want to bring them if you want us to do things to them
      • CarlFK
mithro: meh, it's a little too cumbersome to bring them just to get them flashed. you might like seeing the case with the C2 mounted in it, but really I would recommend getting the case yourself.
      • I can bring a C2 from my setup.
      • xfxf: do you have enough cases for all your LCA Opsis?
      • tumbleweed
ho hum, I can't book with virgin australia online, because my password is too long :P
      • (trying to use credit from flight fuckups last year)
      • mithro: this time I should bring my (your) atlys? :)
      • mithro
        tumbleweed: probably
      • tumbleweed
it's useful to have one around for hacking
      • mithro
There will be plenty around I think...
      • xfxf
tumbleweed: call them, they're pretty decent on the phone, their webapp sucks
      • IIRC they have a US inbound number
      • CarlFK: lol, if we have room in the car I should bring my 3D printer
      • tumbleweed
xfxf: yeah, been on the phone for about 20 mins alreday
      • xfxf
being on hold, my favourite thing to do
      • tumbleweed
        done
      • CarlFK
xfxf: um... ok, even if you have enough, you should get one of these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B575EMA/ref=cm_sw_...
      • it will consolidates the Opsis and the machine you normally put at the front, so net reduction in space and weight
      • xfxf
CarlFK: neat, howso, fits a matx box too?
      • CarlFK
I don't see much point in bringing any of mine
      • what's a matx ?
      • xfxf: does this give you a picture of an lcd monitor https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/101817321389...
      • xfxf
matx is the form factor of the motherboard that would fit into that case
      • i assumed you meant you could fit a PC + opsis into the case together
      • CarlFK
opsis mounts on the atx? or whaever, odroid C2 mounts on the HD bracket, eathernet jack ends up above the hdmi plugs
      • there is the set that shows how it ends up
      • that's an Atlys in there. chance of an Opsis not working is so low I am not going to bother taking things apart to verify
      • xfxf
oh, right - the cases we use already have HD brackets
      • i suspect we can do what you do with the cases we already use
      • CarlFK
xfxf: I don't think it will fit - they aren't as tall, and micolous had to pull out the hd mount bracket for whatever reason ask him
      • the C2 wasn't ment to be mounted in a HD bracket. It just happen to work out with the bracket that came those cases

      • tumbleweed: I'll likely be bringing one of my atlys+c2 in a case. If I give all that to mithro, then the atlys you have can become mine, and you can keep it for now.
      • I'll know for sure when I pack and figure out if I really am bringing mine.
      • tumbleweed
CarlFK: err, what does that achieve?
      • if I'm bryinging at atlys, it's an atlys+c2 in a case
      • CarlFK
tumbleweed: saves you having to bring it.
      • is it the same case as what I use?
      • tumbleweed
yeah, but the C2 is mounted differently (sideways, more firmly, but putting a little more stress on it)
      • but yeah, if I don't have to bring it, that's certainly nice (anything I bring I lug to ZA with me afterwards, unless I fedex it back)
      • CarlFK
I was planing on leaving mine with mithro or xfxf
      • er, planning on leaving the box
      • tumbleweed
because you have so many? :)
      • CarlFK
so they can see how nice it is and stop doing whatever they are doing

      • I think the limiting factor is how fast the fpga can do something sensible with the data -
