If foreman builds an entire machine with an unattended install, should a finish script being run?

If i look at the interface it says it should but it doesn't and i can't find anything in the debug log

dingesX: finish only runs on a host created from an image that doesn't have user data
or debian preseed i think
if it's kickstart, the finish stuff is in %post

so.. if we have zero ipv6 hosts (all AWS) how do we disable ipv6 support in 1.13.1? it insists on having an address, then it tries to set the records in the (ipv4-only) dns server
Dominic
it isn't possible to entirely disable IPv6 support, but selecting an IPv6 subnet (& IP) should not be required
dLobatog
Dis: can I see a screenshot of what insists on having an address?
Dis
sure gimme a quick sec
sorry got sucked into a stand-up. gimme a couple mins. (btw failing to set ipv6 and then emptying the field worked, so I'll have to build a fresh one to get the 'field cannot be empty' screenshot)
dLobatog
ah I think I've seen that.. when you edit the interface the domain does not have any IPv6 subnets but it still shows an error 'ip could not be found' or something like that, right?
just asking to make sure, we should not show anything and fix that, but as you said you can ignore the error
Dis
just skip it and submit again? let me get that screenshot so we're on the same page but I can live with that as a workaround. (we still have rare cases where it does that for the finish templates, so its a bad trend but a decent workaround)
I have it tagged 'high' but for our use, it is pretty critical. Huge high-viz project just dumped a load of new-host requests on us :(

When I do a chef run with foreman, it says that ForemanFacts and ForemanReporting run successfully no facts are recorded to my foreman server. Anyone know what I should be doing?

Guy: let me first ask, how did you install chef plugins?
Guy
mhulan: I ran "gem install chef_handler_foreman" and modified the client.rb file according to the chef-handler-foreman git page
