      • any way to cehck that out?

Good Morning! my puppet agents started reporting "Unable to fetch my node definition, but the agent run will continue" I believe my problem is similar to this one: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/puppet-... <-- i don't quite understand what he's referring to at the end regarding ENC script and AIO package on the foreman server
      • Running puppet agent 3.8.7

smartpig: just heading out so this is a throwaway comment, but check (a) you have the right version of the ENC script (it's not pacakged, so it doesnt get updated as you upgrade foreman) and also check the foreman logs for any errors while running the agent

I'm having difficulty deploying a new VM. After configuring a new host to clone from vmware image it clones the image but doesn't power on the new clone. This worked in the past but has seemed to stop after upgrading.
      • Has anyone run into a problem similar to this?

I've been scripting hammer to create locations and hostgroups in Katello. Sometimes I want to hide hostgroups from an organization in order to have a shorter drop down menu. Is it possible to use hammer to remove an organization from a hostgroup?

rashkinadze: so by default a hostgroup shouldn't be in an org, if you go to the organization under Administer > organizations > click 'edit' beside the org > host groups
      • do you see it there?
      • or is it selected i mean
      • rashkinadze
let me look. mostly what i am doing right now is creating this tree COLO->OS->APP. Because I really only want the APP visible in the list of hostgroups, I have been removing the COLO and OS hostgroups from the org. I can do this manually, but since I am scripting the hostgroup creations, I was curious if I could script that in hammer.
      • bryan_kearney1 joined the channel
      • jsherill: I do see all these hostgroups in the UI under Administer. I can remove the ones I don't want to show up there.
      • jsherrill
rashkinadze: are these being created via hammer?
      • or against the api?
      • rashkinadze
        yes
      • bash scripts that call hammer
      • Vidalinux joined the channel
      • jsherrill
rashkinadze: hrmm, by default a hostgroup shouldn't have any orgs
      • hammer -u admin -p changeme hostgroup create --name=foo
      • shaunm joined the channel
      • when i do that, it ends up in 0 orgs
      • rashkinadze
I'm still having that bug where I can't edit hostgroups unless I unfilter my org, btw. let me see what happens when i do that
      • Vidalinux
someone know why foreman doesn't show puppet production environment on GUI ?
      • rashkinadze
jsherrill: yes, that creates a hostgroup with no org, but if an org is assigned how can I remove it via hammer?
      • Vidalinux
I try to create one but it says name already been taken
      • jsherrill
rashkinadze: i think you'd have to do 'hammer hostgroup update --organization-ids 1,2,3,4' listing all the ones you want to keep
      • rashkinadze
I think that won't work only because we have one organization and I can't run that command with no org-id. However, I might be able to do what I want if I do hammer organization --remove-hostgroup

The capsule-certs-generate command emits instructions regarding using foreman-installer for the capsule. I'd like to generate the command without having seen the output but it includes some secret information such as oauth keys and the like. Where can I find/query the values for ouath-consumer-key, oauth-consumer-secret, ouath-secret in Katello/Forman?
      • The oauth values I know I can find it /etc/foreman/settings.yaml. But I am uncertain how to obtain pulp's oauth-secret value.
      • _ng joined the channel
      • jsherrill
dkimsey: the pulp oauth values really aren't even needed in katello 3.0
      • we need to remove them from that output
      • we may already have
      • dkimsey
Great! For what it is worth, I am using 3.0.
      • jsherrill
dkimsey: yeah, just leave those off
      • dkimsey
