Dominic: question regarding foreman_hooks, so as far as I understand, foreman will run hook_script.py FUNCTION " validate " for example MACHINE NAME " www.example.com " right ?

and it will be expecting return status of 0 ? if anything else it will roll back right ?

first arg is the hook type (before_validation, create etc.) and second is the name of the object, which is the hostname for a host/managed/ hook

non-zero output will fail it, yes. rollback may depend on the type of hook though

most hooks failing should cause it not to save or trigger rollback, yep. only after_commit etc are too late for that

Dominic: I just want to check that the DNS record I am provisioning is not avilable on other NS server so is Validate the right postion for that ?
