so is tent (protocol and implementation) still being developed towards something that is production ready/api stable by anyone, or is it basically stagnant for now?
      • reference pieces all seem pretty dead and in a state that says "don't use this"
      • I see cupcake is still running and a few people are posting, but unclear if that is running the reference implementations or something they consider more production ready but closed
      • titanous
fcheslack: there is no current or future planned development on Tent, we moved on to working on Flynn (https://flynn.io) and will return to the concepts behind Tent eventually, whether that is a new version of Tent or something else is not decided
      • the cupcake server is not currently open source, we did not have the resources to maintain the reference implementation that was easy to install and one that worked at scale, which is why we built Flynn
      • fcheslack
ah, so Flynn was in response to issues you were having with tent / scaling up? Or was it just the complexities of deployment/ops?
      • I missed that connection. Good to know. Thanks
      • titanous
yeah, both, we had trouble coming up with a server that was both easy to install and run and could scale up
      • even just a Ruby app that used Postgres was too hard to install/run for most who wanted to
      • fcheslack
was there a general feeling about how close the protocol was to satisfactory 1.0?
      • titanous
we were getting there, tons of issues on GitHub at https://github.com/tent/tent.io/issues
      • 0.4 was partially spec'ed out
      • fcheslack
aha, okay, wasn't sure which repo was tracking work on the protocol, thought that was just the website repo
      • would have loved to see tent on freedombox
      • thanks for all the work you guys did on this, and for leaving it up while its future is undetermined
