i installed g++ and build-essentials just now, but the success may have really started when i tried that `git -dfx', the building is chugging along now.

This copyright update tradition is not a bad thing actually. I think I'm going to steal it.
      • pbeckingham
tbabej: It reduces the overhead for hte first release of the year.
      • tbabej
pbeckingham: I like the fact that it clearly shows which projects are at least semi-maintained. You cared enough to update the copyright for this year, hence you will probably listen to a bug report / patch even if you haven't had a serious ongoing development there for a while.
      • pbeckingham
tbabej: Agreed, it conveys "intent to release".
      • bqf
though, AFAIK, the practice is questionable at best. the copyright is updated if significant changes are done, not just because you say so. then again, i'm not a lawyer and don't intend to be one. :)
      • pbeckingham
bqf: Right. On release, the assumption is "significant changes". Between releases, it's irrelevant, and just a timesaver.
      • tbabej
bqf: For me, it's just a nice remainder of how long this project has been going on. Not sure what copyright is actually good for in projects using permissive licences such as MIT.

oh I would have thought you have a lot more tasks
      • pbeckingham
We all create tasks of different scope/granularity.
      • svij
yeah. I started noting down every tasks even if it just takes 5min or so. Easier to get started rather then "do this big chunk of work which takes a couple of days"
      • pbeckingham
I don't have any "read chapter1", "read chapter2" kind of tasks. I also don't replicate any Jira issues.
      • svij
        I had "write chapter1" :)
      • pbeckingham
I hope you read it afterwards.

      • pbeckingham
        Congratulations on your book.
      • svij

svij: Will you be attending FOSDEM this year?
      • svij
I would like, but I have 4 exams in february, so sadly no :(
      • pbeckingham
Shame. Lots of people will be there.
      • svij
yeah, I already heard who will be there ;)

      • tbabej
ddeimeke: ^ What do you think?
      • Not sure if there will be any free rooms at FOSDEM.
      • dirkson

git clone build seems easy with `sudo apt install cmake g++ libgnutls-dev uuid-dev', alternatively all but the libgnutls-dev can be installed with `sudo apt-get build-deps task'.
