When posting, you *might* have to send a CSRF token, by the way, scheijan
      • Some underlying library changes had some unanticipated consequences I haven't yet invested time into finding a way around
      • If you try to post a task, and you think everything is formatted right, but you keep getting a 403 error, that's what that means
      • scheijan
        thanks for the hint

can someone help me in setting up task server on my raspberry pi
      • I did everything that was mentioned on the docs page
      • but it fails to connec to the server
      • pbecking1
abhixec: Did you go through the troubleshooting guide?
      • abhixec
        yes
      • I am actually confused what I need for my host?
      • I am using 127.0.0.1 but should I change it to something else?

Do you expect to connect to this server from any other machine?
      • abhixec
        yes

      • pbecking1
Okay, then 127.0.0.1 isn't going to work. You shold probably use $(hostname -f).

      • abhixec
pbecking1: thanks let me try that
      • pbecking1: nope that didn't work
      • pbecking1
abhixec: You're going to have to go through the troubleshooting guide carefully and do everything it says.
      • abhixec
thanks pbecking1 ! let me try the troubleshooting steps once again
      • pbecking1
abhixec: Just so you know, this is solvable, but there are twenty steps to try. Do that, and come back here if it's not working.
      • abhixec
pbecking1: nope still doesn't work. I am doing something dumb which I am unable to firgure out right now :(

      • does the value of CN in the vars affect connecting to the server?
      • *vars file
      • pbecking1
No. That affects validating the certs. You aren't there yet.
      • abhixec
because I did this and it worked
      • I setup a ssh tunnel
      • ssh -L 53589:localhost:53589 rapsberrypi
      • and then in the task config set server to localhost:53589
      • but don't know why it doesn't work when I give the private ip.

      • might be a dumb question but would running taskdctl as sudo user help solve the issue?
      • pbecking1: ^^^
      • nvm I just read the docs shouldn't run taskserver as root user

        hey guys
      • trying to run a taskd server
      • is there no way to run it without ssl?
      • I handle ssl seperate from my apps so I don't have to have multiple copies of my ssl certs everywhere
      • Eilyre joined the channel
      • tbabej
Asara: as far as I know, there is no way. You can try man-in-the-middle your own traffic and sslstrip it I guess.
      • Asara
I mean i want to run taskd without specifiying ssl certs
      • I have nginx serving traffic via ssl and route that in my internal network
      • so I don't want to have a box that has ssl on the box itself and isn't frontended via nginx
      • pbecking1
        Asara: Taskd is secure-only.
      • Asara
i can't even recompile it without ssl?
      • tbabej
Asara: I understood what you meant.
      • pbecking1
        Nope.
      • tbabej
Asara: I gave you the only option besides ripping out SSL right from the sources.
      • Asara
i don't see how ssl striping would help... thanks guys.
      • tbabej
Asara: Well, it's not really a reasonable solution :P just saying (more toungue in cheek than anything else ) that there's a way to run taskd without SSL - it's called ssl stripping.
      • Asara
        got ya
      • thanks :)

      • so next question i guess

      • or is taskwarrior completely incompatable with other ssl keys?
      • as in do I have to use the ssl key gen process that taskwarrior provides?
      • hm. seems like i can
