markin, I was reading the documentation, and from what I understand the bank doesn't get notified at the stage my card gets declined

your bank is the one that normally declines the charge

markin, no there is no charge request. And really there shouldn't be because the first charge is 14 days from the signup of the subscription
i.e a 14 day trial

stripe will decline charges under certain situations but that would be after the bank approves it (like if the cvc code doesn't match and you have that setting enabled in your account settings)

so assuming you're collecting the card data up front, Stripe will send a verification to the bank, the bank needs to approve that verification
normally the verification is done as a $0 or $1 authorization request
though a simple fix until stripe gets back to you is to just require credit card up front
since its a trial you don't need the credit card till the end of the trial

the credit card's bank, the receiving bank has no way of doing it since the credit card number wouldn't be an account they control

The strange thing is I have used the same card before (5 days ago), and it worked perfectly then. Its just all of a sudden its stopped working.

there's support folks remote and working 24/7 to my knowledge, but some issues can only be handled by a subset of folks
