        hello
      • tr12
        jonathan___: hello
      • jonathan___
this is where i go for support regarding stripe right?
      • tr12
this is the community developer channel
      • jonathan___
        oh okay
      • can i ask anyways?
      • tr12
if you've got q's about developing a stripe integration, this is a good forum
      • jonathan___
I just set up stripe and it seems to always kick me back to "test" mode no matter what I do
      • tr12
does't hurt to ask - the worst-case scenario is I'll tell you that you need to talk to support ;)
      • how so?
      • jonathan___
I keep sliding it back to live and once i click to any other page, it just goes back to default "test" mode
      • tr12
        hmm
      • to be clear, that slider just affects the data displayed in the dashboard
      • jonathan___
        correct
      • tr12
it doesn't affect whether the charges you make are live / test charges
      • jonathan___
        you are correct
      • tr12
let me see if I can repro
      • jonathan___
it just seems odd that I have to keep selecting live every time I select a different button on the left hand side of the screen
      • awesome thank you
      • tr12
yeah, that doesn't happen to me
      • tictacjoe has quit
      • though the dashboard can sometimes get itself into a funny state, and you need to give it a good kick
      • have you tried refreshing the page?
      • jonathan___
        i have
      • tr12
        hmm, weird
      • jonathan___
so currently, it is set to test on the dashboard. I select Live. Then i will go down to customer - and it will switch back to test again
      • tr12
you may want to talk to support about that
      • jonathan___
        sounds good
      • super confusing/annoying haha
      • but thank you for your help
      • i will shoot them an email
      • tr12
though as an intermediate hack, the live / test thing is really just shorthand for specifying the url with or without the test part in the url
      • jonathan___
        yeah
      • sounds good
      • tr12
if you reload the dashboard as dashboard.stripe.com/charges instead of the test url
      • cyford joined the channel
      • does that kick the dashboard so it renders the links as the live links vs the test ones?

      • tr12
        huh, too weird...

hi everyone #stripech to attach to my laravel store and composer fails to install StripeI have a Laravel app I want to attat
      • tr12
Guest39228: what's the error message you get when you try to install stripe with composer?
      • Guest39228
        "Nothing to install or update"
      • its as if it hasn't bothered loading the package
      • tr12
to confirm, does your composer.json file have reference to stripe?
      • Guest39228
        yes, but it's part of laravel's composer.json
      • tr12
        did laravel install correctly?
      • Guest39228
No, there's a bunch of weird text in a master page somewhere, but I don't think that would stop the installation
      • tr12
then if laravel depends on stripe, presumably it installed stripe-php. if you require the vendor/autoload.php file, does this import things from the stripe namespace?
      • Guest39228
how would I go about doing that?
      • tr12
eg, if you make a little php script that does `require_once(...); \Stripe\Stripe::setApiKey(...); echo "success\n";`
      • does that run?
      • Guest39228
        nvd I found it
      • let me try it
      • I am able to require the file and everything runs perfectly in the browser
      • tr12
then it sounds like stripe was already pulled in by laravel, so it didn't install another copy when you required it as a dep of your own app (as expected)
      • so everything seems fine
      • Guest39228
        ok thx
      • it's just that PhpStorm highlight the Stripe namespace in red
      • "undefined namespace stripe"

      • Guest84764 has left the channel
      • tr12
Guest39228: I'd guess that this is just a spurious warning
      • Guest39228
        ok
      • tr12
unless you've installed stripe with composer in your local dev environment, vendor/autoload.php will not exist, so there's no way that your ide will be able to figure out that the stripe namespace is defined somewhere
      • if you have installed stripe locally, that's weird
      • if it works even though phpstorm thinks it should error out, that sounds like an issue with phpstorm

wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to process a AU credit card
      • tr12
matthewlawson: sure - should work essentially the same as any other sort of credit card
      • matthewlawson
I updated the API and rolled new keys
      • I have a WooCommerce installation, with the Stripe payments plugin
      • how recently was Australia added as a new country for Stripe?
      • tr12
stripe has been able to process australian cards ~forever
      • matthewlawson
haha ok, I'll check a few more things on the WooCommerce side
      • tr12
I assume you're trying this and it's not working - what's the error message you're getting back?
      • matthewlawson
        thanks for your time!
      • Your card was declined.
      • tr12
so that does mean just that
      • matthewlawson
I may need to update the Stripe plugin on the WooCommerce side
      • tr12
you'd need to have your customer verify their information, or get in touch with their bank to ask why the bank declined the charge
      • matthewlawson
and I'll have the customer check with their financial institution to ensure it's not some anti-theft protection
      • tr12
this is not an issue with the plugin, or with stripe
      • matthewlawson
        perfecto
      • tr12
this is a decline coming from the customer's bank
      • matthewlawson
        ahh, so that's a 100% their side?
      • tictacjoe has quit
      • tr12
it's also possible that stripe flagged it as a fraudulent transaction, but most likely it's a decline from the bank
      • matthewlawson
is there anyway to indicate to Stripe that your account will be accepting payments from AU clients?
      • tr12
this isn't something you'd need to do
      • tbh, I'm not convinced that the fact that the card is australian is necessarily related
      • that's just a generic decline
      • konradsurf joined the channel
      • it's entirely possible that the bank sees charges from a non-AU based company as higher-risk, but this is not necessarily the reason that the charge was declined
      • matthewlawson
ok cool, well I'll have the customer reach out to their financial institution to see what's going on with their end
      • yea, that's what I'm thinking
      • thanks again for your time and insight!
      • much appreciated
      • tr12
        np!
      • Guest39228
Hey so I think I have figured out how to use this product, but now Laravel throws a TokenMismatchException
      • matthewlawson has quit
      • tr12
Guest39228: I don't think that has anything to do with stripe
      • Guest39228
        maybe a laravel issue?
      • tr12
based on a cursory googling, the token the error message refers to is not a stripe token - seems to be a csrf token
      • Guest39228
        ill google this myself
