Hey there! When a charge on a customer credit card goes through, the money shows in my Stripe account as “Pending"

What are the rules and process behind that money becoming “Available” so I can transfer my managed account

bharris: yup, in the US 48 hours (the first charge is 7 days), outside the US 7 days

bharris: if you're sending funds to a managed account you should be using the Stripe-Account header or specifying a destination when you create the charge though

We are migrating from Balanced to Stripe - we cant do that!!

No actually we can’t do the destination b/c we dont have any control over the transfer reversal for a shipping label cost

I don't know if balanced migrations have that delay, the balance transaction for the charge has the available_on date

The seller of the item has to pay for a shipping label, which should be allowed to be taken from their transfer.

That is not a special case… that is a normal transaction

For compliance reasons, Stripe doesn't offer account to account transfers if its more than 10% of your volume, I'd email sales@stripe.com and talk over your use case and let them see what can / cannot be done from a compliance standpoint

They use our site to print and pay for a shipping label to ship the item.

well you have sellers selling items from buyers, but the sellers are also buying shipping labels from you /after/ the purchase

Why incur an additional transaction charge, when taking the cost of the label out of the transfer makes perfect sense

Then the seller of an item, needs a credit card to buy a label with money that they should be getting from the sale.

Because the seller gets to pick the cheapest carrier
