jmw27: stripe.js doesn't have that, you'd have to do it server-side or use a third party toool
      • jci-mktg
his questions are about stripe policies and protocols. How long is your usual response time for email? It has been 30 hours, and their concerns are growing with every passing hour. The company's name is Pilla Sport
      • koopajah
jci-mktg: we try to answer in less than 24 hours but it's not always possible. We're doing our best, they need to be patient unfortunately
      • jci-mktg
alright. Could he ask specific questions on here?
      • koopajah
I also looked on my end and as far as I can see they emailed 3 times today so less than ~5 hours ago
      • jci-mktg
I believe their first 2 emails were yesterday
      • koopajah
can't find any though, maybe under another email address. Someone will get back to them but they have to be patient
      • most of their questions seem also covered on the support site, so you could maybe look into it and show them so that they feel reassured
      • jci-mktg
what is the address of the support site?
      • koopajah
        ...
      • ronyt
        anyone knows?
      • koopajah
ronyt: I answered you already, it's a DNS issue usually on your connection/network

i'm getting 401 invalid api keys on my test keys
      • using the ruby client and it returns a starred out version of the key (shows the last 2 digits)
      • koopajah
nerdfiles: have you rolled your API keys? you never answered me I think
      • w400z: this usually means that you're using old expired keys
      • w400z
thought that, but just rolled them
      • nerdfiles
        Ah, sorry about that.
      • I haven't rolled them recently.
      • koopajah
nerdfiles: your API keys are in the gist! this is critical, anyone reading it has your keys and can do whatever he wants with it. You need to roll your keys please

can api live key be used to create test card on a customer?
      • markin
        tony__: no
      • w400z
@koopajah figured it out. tests were caching old key even though i rolled. all good now.

      • koopajah
        w400z :)
      • ronyt: you'd need to ask one of your users on their phone to ping api.stripe.com or load the url in the browser
      • ronyt
        I'm on genymotion emulator
      • webpage not available
      • koopajah
so yeah that's the issue I suppose, their servers have a problem where they can't resolve api.stripe.com
      • ronyt
but it happenst on different devices
      • markin
ronyt: are you on a mac / linux machine?

      • markin
ronyt: on your computer what happens if you go to api.stripe.com

getting the error "problem with your stripe credentials" --it sure looks like my keys are correct....any ideas?
      • sfkaos
        hello all
      • i have a question about duplicate customer accounts on Stripe
      • markin
        sfkaos: just ask
      • jci-mktg has quit
      • sfkaos
we've recently migrated from BalancedPayments which has resulted in duplicate customer accounts - one account which has credit card information and subscription information and another with bank account info (some of which were converted to managed accounts)
      • markin
sfkaos: recipients are converted to accounts not customers
      • sfkaos
        that didn't happen for us
      • they all go converted to "customers"
      • WRD joined the channel
      • got*
      • markin
a customer cannot be converted to an account though

a BalancedPayment customer => Stripe customer
      • markin
but stripe customer cannot become a managed accont
      • *account
      • Guest43244
I have a quick question about when getting a chargeback. If I decide to refund the customer, is there a policy at our backs where they have to send the item back to us?
      • markin
Guest43244: once you get a chargeback its too late to do a refund, you can have a refund policy
      • sfkaos
so i'm guessing the migration created a customer AND a managed account?
      • for the same email?
      • bkrausz joined the channel
      • koopajah_away
        sfkaos: yes
      • nerdfiles has quit
      • Guest43244
So there is no policy/procedure that it is the responsibility of the customer to return the merchandise to us except our own stated?

      • sfkaos
so some of the customers DID NOT become managed accounts
      • markin
Guest43244: most chargebacks would be for fraudulent transactions, or the customer not receivng stuff and then you not answering them and then they escalated to their bank, once the chargeback happens its a bit late
      • sfkaos
        which need to be
      • koopajah_away
sfkaos: I think Balanced only creates managed account for Customers you ever paid in Balanced
      • sfkaos
thats looking like what happened - but we need all Balanced customers that have an associated bank account to be managed accounts
      • koopajah_away
sfkaos: sooo the best solution would be to contact Balanced and explain this so that they create those for you
      • Guest43244
None of that is our issue with the customer though. They just do not want the item, so they opened a case with their bank against us so we got a chargeback. But if there is no policy but our own, then that is all I needed to know.

Question about fraud: If we are using stripe to keep a customer's card, are there any notifications (like a webhook) for if that card becomes marked as fraudulent? Or do we just have to wait until the next time we charge their account and get the error response?

        stb: wait I think
      • markin
stb: marked as fraud is weird, some banks will just kill the one charge, others will give a new card, if they give a new card, the old card would decline
      • nilsmunch has quit
      • stb: though I've had amex give me new card numbers when I've lost a card and the old one would still work at previously authorized merchants

So there is nothing specific sent from Stripe, we can only tell if a card's status has changed when actually charging it? Does this include if a card has expired?
      • HairAndBeardGuy joined the channel
      • markin
stb: right, for expired cards or changed numbers, some banks will send stripe updated card info and you'd get a card.updated event
