Afternoon. Is it possible to transfer from a connected account to the platform account?
      • and if so can someone point me to the docs on how it's done?

      • oh wait, i misunderstood the question. i don't know, ignore me :D
      • irctc165
I can explain in more detail.
      • you can transfer from the platform account to a connected account via the transfers api
      • can you essentially do the reverse?
      • transfer from a managed connected account to the platform account?
      • without making a reversal?

        Anyone have a good idea on how to add a bank account on Connected accounts? I've tried this to no avail... $account->bank_account->account_number = $_POST["banknumber"];
      • stripe
Does anyone know of any good Stripe alternatives? We can't use them, because they don't allow for digital wallets on online stores
      • markin
stripe: have you spoken to support@stripe.com about your business model with the stored credits?
      • stripe: there is braintree, authorize.net, paypal, just to name a few
      • Damon: do you have the full code you're using available?

markin: Yes, I do. I'm pulling the account info and able to save the ip address, first_name, etc..but the bank_account just errors out.
      • Docs say to create a dictionary or a token. I'm doing this with a dictionary instead of dealing with the token.
      • markin
Damon: do you get an error or is it just not being saved?
      • Damon

When I try creating an Managed Stripe Account for a new user, I submit entity type, dob, SSN; and fields_needed returns with "bank_account" does that mean I need to ask the user for bank acount when creating the Manage Stripe Account?

      • markin, and if I have an Unverified User (still a Recipient) that initiates a $5k (e.g.) tranfer; does Stripe blocks the transfer because the user is Unverified and I need to Verifiy them beforehand; or would the transfer happen?
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: it depends on the situation and the regulatutions
      • mauricio109-on-o
markin, what exactly does that mean?
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: different recipients have different identity verifcation requirements in order to comply with federal regulations
      • mauricio109-on-o
        markin, let's say it's a bank account
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: a bank account isn't identity verication, its needed to send money somewhere
      • a recipient can't have a transfer without a bank account

Hey guys. is there a way to pay stripe charge fees separately on behalf of a charge? for example if a person buys a $100 gift card, i'd like to keep $100 in the available balance, but currently the net balance would be 100 less 2.9% and .30 cents. I would really have to charge $103.30 for a gift card.
      • markin
mattk: if you did managed accounts, the managed account would get the full amount if you used the destination parameter I believe
      • mauricio109-on-o
Do Recipients have something like "verification.fields_needed" that Accounts have?
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: nope, recipients are deprecated as well
      • mauricio109-on-o
just to be clear, if a recipient is Unverified, there's no way to know why, correct?
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: the only thing recipients have to verify are the tax id
      • so either you didn't provide it or it failed (in which case support would email you I believe)
      • mauricio109-on-o
        ok
      • at which point of the processo Stripe requires Recipients to be verified?
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: the regulations can vary, normally its after they reach a certain amount of funds transferred, but I don't have the specific number available on the top of my head
      • though if you're going to be using recipients for more than a few months, I would just build off the managed accounts api, so you don't have to rebuild everything
      • mauricio109-on-o
        I'm in between migrating everything
      • right now, I'm assuming that all our recipients would be Unverified since we don't was for TAX_ID; would that be correct?
      • markin
        correct
      • mauricio109-on-o
so depending on regulations, a transfer could be flagged as fraudlent and not happen, right?
      • markin
it wouldn't be flagged as fraudulent, you'd just be told you need to provide identity verifcation in compliance with know your customer regulations
      • mauricio109-on-o
that would come in the response from Stripe's servers when we ask for the transfer, right?
      • i'm talking about our current recipients, btw
      • markin
I think it would be an email, I'm not exactly sure
      • mauricio109-on-o
        ok
      • for managed accounts, can they have multiple bank accounts and/or debit cards at this point?
      • markin
only bank accounts are supported, they can have multiple, though only support for 1 account is documented
      • FMGabriel has quit

does the same apply to debit cards?

markin: are you still there? sorry I had to go out for a bit
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: managed accounts don't support paying out to debit cards
      • stripe: yes
      • stripe
markin: So yeah, I contacted Stripe and they said that using Stripe to add funds to a digital wallet on your store is voiding their terms & conditions. Do you know of any other service that would allow this/
      • mauricio109-on-o
so, I would have to keep Recipients with debit cards and only migrate the ones that only have bank accounts, correct?
      • markin
stripe: I know of other services, I don't know if they support this, braintree, paypal, authorize, etc
      • mauricio109-on-o: correct, or wait for managed accounts to support debit accounts

Hi. When using the embedded Checkout, where exactly does Stripe send the user after they fill out the form?
      • When I test, the page refreshes and then I get
      • "No route matches [POST] "/posts/59""
      • Where 59 is the post ID
      • markin
quix: it sends them to the url you set in the action of the form that contains the stripe checkout code
      • mauricio109-on-o
for managed accounts that are verified, can it happen they become unverified?
      • stripe has quit
      • quix
How do you set that URL?
      • livingstn has quit
      • Seventoes
quix: it's just the regular HTML form that surrounds the code
      • so <form action="/whatever" method="POST">
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: you can get a account.updated webhook and fields_needed could have changed
      • mauricio109-on-o
        ok
      • for managed accounts, does Stripe require/force us to have our Managed Accounts verified before doing transfers?
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: that would be a deferred account: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/deferred-accoun...
      • quix
Still kind of confused about where that URL goes
      • what goes in the form action for Checkout?
      • markin
quix: the url for your server-side code that creates the charge
      • quix: stripe checkout is only step 1 of a 2 step process to create a charge
      • quix
I'm on Rails, so the charge is being created by the charge controller
      • markin
quix: so the action should be to the url of create charge
      • mauricio109-on-o
that applies to Stand Alone accounts only or also to managed accounts?
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: I believe managed accounts as well
      • mauricio109-on-o
the copy is weird for managed accounts...
      • markin
its new and in beta, so still a lot of clarifications for things
      • mauricio109-on-o
but my question was does Stripe require a Managed Account to be Verified before we can transfer money to it?
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: so you can check charges_enabled and transfers_enabled for each account
      • mauricio109-on-o
those also can change and would be sent via webhooks, correct?
      • markin
mauricio109-on-o: yes, so just looking at one of my tests, charges_enabled is true but transfers_enabled is false, so I'm pretty sure that deferred account limitation I linked to also applies for managed accounts
      • mauricio109-on-o
so, can an account have "transfers_enabled: true" and be Unverified?
      • markin
        mauricio109-on-o: not to my knowledge
