The stripe docs say "With Connect, your platform can take an application fee on charges, subscriptions, and even on transfers.", but in the actual API, transfers don't have a "application_fee" field.
      • which paart is correct?
      • markin
by an application fee on transfer's you just transfer less

okay, another question - transfers to managed accounts are 0.5%. If I set up a transfer from one managed account to another, who is the 0.5% charged from?
      • sb_ has quit
      • actually it doesn't look like I can do that
      • with stripe connect, can you charge a bank account?
      • Is that just another payment source?
      • markin
        nemothekid: not currently

So is the only way to get money into a stripe account via credit card charge?
      • markin
        yup or bitcoin
      • or transfer from a platform account
      • nemothekid
Can I make a transfer from a platform account via the API?

I think I have an ok understanding of how webhooks work but I'm wondering what services can help me process the post requests and handle the email? would be cool if something like mailchimp did that

Question about the API: I have a Customer ID and want to add a new Card and a new Subscription. Stripe.js created a Token for me, but I'm only allowed to use it once. Can I add the Card to the Customer and create a new Subscription for this Customer using the Card ID in the Subscription Source, or is the Source ONLY for Stripe.js tokens?
      • rrawlins joined the channel
      • dqsf
jonnym: There are a bunch of 3rd party services that integrate with Stripe here, including some that can handle email, analytics, etc https://stripe.com/docs/integrations

Kalob: subscriptions always bill a customers default card
      • brockhaywood joined the channel
      • Kalob
markin: So add the card, make it their default card and add the subscription?
      • markin
        Yup
      • dqsf
Kalob: you can pass a token as source creating a subscription (it has a source param). If you do this it will create a new card on the customer, make it that the default, and delete the old default. https://stripe.com/docs/api#create_subscription
      • Kalob
Ohh even better! No need to manually add the Card then, the Subscription will add it for me. Thanks!

Does anyone know of a way to update a recipient with bank_account=null (i.e. delete bank account information from a recipient in the same way as deleting a card from a customer). I have been exploring the API docs and can not figure out how to do this. If I try to do an UPDATE call to the api with bank_account=null, I get an API error
