Hello, is anyone using the stripe_event gem with their stripe application?
I'm having trouble getting events to trigger

bryce_: I'm a bit confused you say your application is receiving the webhook but nothing is being triggered in the webhook handler, so where is it receiving the webhook?

Hey Markin, I'm using the stripe_event gem to receive the web hooks, the default receiving URL is set to "webhooks/"
This is the log that's being generated: Processing by StripeEvent::WebhookController#event as XML
then it displays a hash of the parameters
and then this message: Completed 401 Unauthorized in 1ms (ActiveRecord: 0.0ms)

I'm kind of confused that the gem is parsing the event as XML. I thought events were sent as JSON.

Hi. Is it possible to create a user account on stripe with all the details via api, instead of redirecting them to stripe?
markin
bryce_: are you testing webhooks using the test webhook tool?
gigmor: nope
bryce_
I am, but I'm also receiving events that are generated by my app itself.

Any word on Canadian based businesses being able to charge in more than 2 currencies?
markin
bryce_: so the test webhook function will cause an error
Ok, so the events that you generate manually via the admin -> web hooks interface will cause a stripe_event error, but what about events that are generated organically (i.e. create a new customer in the admin interface)
markin
those should work

Somebody from Stripe present?

piesync: there doesn't tend to be Stripe employees hanging around too often. If its a non-account specific question (basically anything that isn't "Where's my transfer?"), I can likely help you out
piesync: so basically you add metadata to a customer that determines whether VAT should be calculated and then take advantages of webhooks to add the VAT every month?
piesync
yes
markin
barancw: I don't know, I don't think there are any only ipv6 devices on the internet. you could ping support@stripe.com
barancw
I have a block of public ipv6 addresses and when I make a DNS record and put it in to use a test webhook, I get a 503, not sutable address found error. I just created the dns record so I'm not sure if thats the problem or if the stripe servers just don't have ipv6 connectivity?

barancw: you might have to wait for DNS to update, I don't know is Stripe supports IPv6

Hello, I want to upgrade the API for the first time in over a year. Can anyone explain what happens when I press the Upgrade button? Do I simply get files that I can test with before implementing on the live site?
Or does something horrible and irreversible happen??
