if you are publishing Android apps onto Google Playstore and want to know how many installations you got daily, that kind of data isn't available via any public API

I've been poking around with CasperJS for scraping those data as well, but CasperJS lock down with JS

Selenium and PhamJS Drive, are fantastic as Selenium has so many bindings to other languages

it may not be the intended features of Selenium from the beginning, but I really think that Selenium is a vital tool in data engineering now
