Greetings, in need of some help please. I have a test that is failing consistently but only in 1 environment...I am guessing because the page takes over 30 secs. to load in that particular environment

ortho: so set the explicit timeouts to something that works reliably
no?
ortho
I had the PageLoadTimeout set to 30 secs. but uppping it to 60 secs isn't making a difference

here's the kicker...the code for navigating...I am not using URLs to navigate, but the code for navigating to to that page isn't specific to that page, I've refactored it out to be generic
I am using page objects...but the navigation is abstracted out into its own classes...the code successfully clicks on the subMenu element and then it jus waits...and the next line of code which is a wait for the Title to be "X"...doesn't get hit
allegedgly it's the .Click line that throws the exception but the click action does happen

ortho: which bit is timing out? Are you using implicit or explicit timeouts?
ortho
wait.Until(d => d.FindElement(By.LinkText(subMenuText))).Click() this does actually fire off the action

using explicit waits

ortho: how is the timeout configured? sounds like you need to just bump that up for this particular click

<llaskin> wait what happened yesterday that u had to?
I've both enabled and disabled usage of the SetPageLoadTimeout webdriver property but it doesn't really make a difference...upped it to 60 secs....but still not a difference...so I'm guessing that particular property is irrelevant here
hmn, gonna try some'n else

g’day jimevans!

jimevans: the “gay” one?
jimevans
that'd be the one, yes.
simonstewart
*sigh*
jimevans
of course, the attitude of "i know better, regardless of how much experience you might have with this library that i'm only starting to work with" didn't help my attitude either.
simonstewart
Also *sigh*
se-slack
<llaskin> wow he went all out with the gay thing…and then went racist…horrible.
jimevans
indeed.

the most irritating thing for me was his bloody text colour
jimevans
thankfully, my client doesn't render stuff like that.
simonstewart
I wondered what that 2.0 stuff was about
sgsabbage
it's a shame it renders slurs

for me, it wasn't so much the original comment, it was more when i brought it up, the whole "but that's not offensive" attempt at excusing it really set me off.
