potentially stupid questions incoming

but rather a stupid question than burned up parts

i have a battery, an ESC, and a receiver

and i'm getting mixed signals from their manuals

the receiver manual shows the battery plugged directly into the receiver

the ESC manual shows the battery plugged into the ESC and the ESC plugged into the receiver's battery terminals

You should probably do what the ESC says

that's what i thought

i heard a buzzing and unplugged it asap

now that i think of it, it was the servos... :P

But if the receiver supports plugging the battery in directly it won't hurt anything to plug it in there (probably)

As long as you do battery->esc->receiver you should be fine

i was cautious since my limited electronics sense tells me one wire is a lot bigger than the other

Yea. The way it works is that the ESC takes the battery voltage and gives that to the motor aswell as dropping it down to 5V and sending it off to the receiver

just to be totally clear, in this world red is still positive and black is still negative right?

and white is probably signal

Yep

Signal is usually yellow or white

i made a ghetto styrofoam cutter though...

yeah, i just dropped out of aerospace engineering for a cushy silicon valley job so i thought i'd design a plane as a little screw-you to my overpriced university

my esc manual has neglected to mention what wires connect to what for the motor

they're all blue coming out of the ESC and the diagram says nothing

That's not really negative I think

The colors are just for making it easier to check the connections but they are just wires to different parts of the motor

brb gonna find something to ghetto this together

so i need some bullet connectors
