Anyone know of a vertical servo mount
      • cehteh
        eh?
      • as in?
      • just screw it in as it fits
      • superlou
I need to stand it up "vertically"
      • and attach the mount to a flat base
      • nothing to screw it into yet
      • vertical like this https://vimeo.com/136165642
      • but right now i just jammed them into some cardboard with slits cutout
      • was hoping to find something off-the-shelf. Started modeling something, then the prices for 3d printing stuff turned out to be nuts
      • cehteh
        haha
      • just good old workshoping .. cut some wood or aluminium and mount it that way
      • superlou
cehteh, I'm stuck in an apartment with nothing tools-wise. Pair of scissors and a computer.
      • May start mooching off lab stuff at work, but I'm not that deperate yet
      • cehteh
then just hotglue the servos to a wooden plate
      • superlou
huh. hotglues not a terrible idea
      • cehteh
you may shrinktube the whole servos in advance
      • superlou
what's the advantage of the shrinktube?
      • Makes it easier to cut them out later?
      • cehteh
hotglue holds better against shrinktube and you can remove them easier
      • cut the shrinktube done
      • superlou
that may work. Since exact positioning is pretty critical, I was hoping to have something machined to hold better tolerances.
      • But if I'm careful, could be good enough
      • cehteh
make some template with exact position marks and angles
      • then you can place them quite exactly with hotglue
      • btw why dont you mount them flat, maybe on some spacer blocks
      • more surface for mounting
      • superlou
cehteh, true. For the aesthetic I was going for, the height just made stuff work out at the time since I didn't have spacers. https://vimeo.com/134567892
      • Means I need nicer spacers, though that probably gives me flexibility in itself

        greetings :)
      • I'm considering getting one of those cheapish (~50$) mini rc helos.. I have a ~5 year old graupner remote, is there any way to pair this with one of those cheap helos? Is that even a good idea, or should I just use the remote that comes with the helo? At the moment, indoor living room flying only

ecraven: it would be more trouble than it's worth, the physical controls on those aren't very precise
      • ecraven: for the same reason, I recommend a 4+ channel heli
