Does anyone here know where I can buy a "resistance" like the ones used for heating up water? Or at least what it's called in swedish
16:17 PM
I tried searching for it as a "motstånd" cause electronic resistors are called that, but that seems to be wrong
16:17 PM
:s

For heating up water? Wut? Sounds like a peltier?
16:37 PM
Or are you looking for resistance wires? ie wires that heat up when you put current on 'em?
16:56 PM
nicolaslara
ersi: webhenrik: kind of like what's inside of a vattenkokare but that I can control with my raspberry pi :p
16:57 PM
16:57 PM
hmm, I guess element might work… checking

Aha. Well, yeah - element works. I'd probably take a look at a peltier though

nicolaslara
thanks ersi !

nicolaslara: i think the name for immersion heater is "doppvärmare" :)
18:55 PM
nicolaslara
thanks! that seems right :)
18:56 PM
pelme have no experience with doppvärmare, so I might be wrong though :)
18:59 PM
haha, yeah, the ones I've found now just heat up to ~55C…
18:59 PM
I'm thinking I'll end up buying a vattenkokare and taking the heating part out
18:59 PM
pelme
what are you building?
19:00 PM
nicolaslara
a sous vide cooker
19:01 PM
hmm, I hate when [o__o] lets me down

it's a pretty simple project, but I like that it involves a bit of hardware
19:04 PM
I already got the thermometer (or thermistor, which is apparently the electronics word for thermometer) and it detects the temp via the raspberry pi
19:04 PM
pelme
has it digital output that can be attached to the GPIO pins?
19:05 PM
i've been thinking about building a PID controller for my espresso machine
19:05 PM
with a rasperry pi
21:28 PM
nicolaslara
21:28 PM
the only downside is that it's pretty slow
21:28 PM
I blame the rubber coating
