when is it useful to have a route and a view to render stuff?

uh.

when you want to render something in response to a request on a particular URL

why not just have route and view in the same conf method?

because that is not the way pyramid was designed?

i'm not really sure how you expect to respond to HTTP requests without configuring a function to produce the response.

the pyramid term for "function that produces a response to a HTTP request" is "view"

you'd see why exactly pyramid fails there

the pyramid sqla example using authz will use the ACLAuthPolicy, and then make up a completely bogus root factory + model whose only purpose is to set a default acl.

Charlie_X just reminded me of a couple of things, cloudflare and mod_pagespeed

i am interested to see some stats out of cloudflare for my personal site, but the update only every 24 hours for the free plan

depending on what needs to be cached, i would use a CDN for static assets

for dynamically generated pages, probably varnish

because i have no idea what i'm doing

but someone said something about varnish

because with it we actually can do cache invalidation... :P

proper invalidation, that when the cache is not valid anymore it will be invalidated asap

not some 0.2 second timeouts
