Hi, anyone here?

I'm fairly new to OS X server (have experience in Win Server 2012R2).

I have 2 mac books that the family uses where I have 1 user on each that exists since some time

now I want to "join" those users in the "domain" of the mac server

is there a way to do this?

or in MaxOSX

I try to avoid setting up users on the server and then using these on the macs and then moving the keychains etc around

I got a mac mini that runs OS X Server 5.0 (just installed w/o any big config yet)

but the 2 mac books have been used for some time. This is why I would rather like to "merge" the existing users on those machines into the "domain"

what I am confused about for example is the possibiltiy to join from the clients to a "network account server"

this sounds like the solution I am looking for but on the OS X server there is no such network account server setting

thanks, I have seen this but I was not to fond of doing it. Do I not loose certificate and key-chain connection when I go down this path?

so do I then not also loose the certificates and can't access the keychain after I "merge" this with the network user?

So, if the home folder is on the server, will there be a local copy on each of the client machines?

Home Sync does that, yes

one last thing: homesync sounds similar to windows servers roamping profiles. They just suck, never worked, most likely never will work. How is the experience whit this on OS X Server?
