Does anybody know of a good piece of software that would duplicate the functionality of the old 'server monitor' app? I need something I can use to log into the LOM port on an xserve for remote monitoring and control
franton
it's not "good" but there is a command line LOM utility. ipmitool
that's the only thing to my certain knowledge that'll do it
|]
well, the older "server monitor" app that comes with server admin tools would do this whole GUI and graphing thing.
I don't imagine that any third party programs exist for this.
franton
that's it. that's your choices for xserve lom management
|]
That's extremely disappointing.

they're old end-of-life equipment
|]
I've got an early 2009, if that helps
franton
i've inherited four 2009 vintage ones where I am. they're starting to fall to bits
|]
well, this one has been shut down and in storage since 2010
so it's relatively fresh
franton
i'm writing a document for the higher ups here stating that while we might have spares, it's a better idea to run something more "supported"
|]
Ah, you meant in a business.
I found mine in the basement of the DC and my boss said i could have it.

Gents, what applications do you use to create pkg installers?
I'm looking to move away from Composer and start to make them manually, if there's a command line tool; ideally i want to version control them too with Git... any ideas?

I use packages
Composer isn't so bad. It's just a bit ... light
the snapshot facilities are very good, but whether it's a good idea to do that..
