Last weekend I tried to set the computers I wanted to play with to wake every ten minutes on a scheduled ARD command... around a third of them STILL managed to fall offline

No firewall / network can block that.

frogor: you could block it with iptables

Just open up terminal: ssh testuser@localhost

Psychodata: If they fall offline, with no user interaction, then they might be implementing the "autopoweroff" European directive I mentioned from the manpage above. Where are you located at?

Or more accurately - where do you buy your Apple machines? :D

frogor: gah. Other obstacle - ssh on these machines is limited to a user I don’t have access to. So loopback _would_ work, but won’t because of that.

gneagle: frogor it's also blockable by creating a manual drop statement with the cable and an axe. it's alot like iptables panic, but with even more manual intervention

The channel might be a ghost town when you get home. There's about 40 minutes of any real activity left. Starts closing up shop around 5-5:30 pm east coast time :)
