Trying to diagnose why I can't download from the App Store on visitor Wi-Fi. I have cache server in place but it's being told to only serve it's local subnet, which is what I want. I want the visitor network to just goto Apple, is it confused because the company and visitor network have the same public IP/

Hoping to determine if it's the caching server or the firewall.

adamcodega: "Only local subnets" or "only some networks"? I think the latter is needed so you can define which parts of your internal network look at the CS.

foigus: Only one subnet should look at the CS.
Although I'm picking up what you're saying, there is a difference.
Perhaps one should ::puts on BOFH glasses:: read the manual.

We were having this problem too on Mavericks/whatever version Server that was, didn't they just change the only some networks?

adamcodega: I think without being told otherwise, CS tries to cache for anything coming from public IP "x". You'd need to tell it "Only cache for 192.168.1.x" behind my public IP.

foigus: I thought that's what "only local subnet did" but I hear you.
Let me test.

adamcodega: what's guest WiFi handing out for DNS? Is it from the ISP, internal, 3rd party (openDNS)?

swy: Sorry?
swy: they all use the router firewall for DNS, it just goes upstream to Google

Office is 192 subnets and Guests are 10.*

OK, no different answers for "where is the akami cache" between guest and production network then.
