Would I be right to assume that community edition is moving towards the ootb version?

I would not say that, at least for the moment

honeycomb is more of a 'build' of CE + stuff to make it a complete server

Are the extras like record management available in the 5.x branch or just the 4.x?

Not sure of the current status of RM with 4.2.f, there may be an issue around java 8, digcat, do you remember?

rm needs java 8 for 5

for 4.2.f it works i think we include it in honeycomb
