Hey channel. We are working on an app that generates views directly from a Fiscal Data Package (no server). Dev on the first iteration will occur over the next few weeks, and then we'll get serious about: a) integration as part of the OpenSpending Next import flow, and b) integration between this work and the awesome vis/analysis work inside SpenDB. Code is
      • pudo
        views = visualizations?
      • hey paul, sorry I've been slow on all the stuff
      • last week in bosnia, too much shit on le plate
      • pwalsh
i know, I thought as much
      • views, yes, visualisations essentially
      • pudo we can catch up on this stuff next week, no problem.
      • pudo
        of course :)
      • very excited -- I've got free time in Dec, finally.
      • would love to make some cool stuff around datavis DSL

one thing though pudo: I did start to do this ui in angular and found it really frustrating coming back from react.so this actual app uses react for views right now. but the app is abstracted from the data access etc which is agnostic to the view layer
      • pudo
        ah, ok
      • finally learning react ... also on my list
      • pwalsh
the actual components will be quite simple, and we can assess it together in a week or so. and, I'm happy to port back just the ui glue to angular if we decide it is better to do so. nothing lost
      • it is a bit of an experiment, as I'm the only one who has done React so far at OKI. So one of our devs is working on this with me. It is a little test :).

      • danfowler and maybe pudo: where is the most recent, bestest, version of the bubble tree lib. I found https://github.com/openspending/openspendingjs/... and also https://github.com/okfn/bubbletree
      • danfowler
pwalsh: that is the version I was using
      • pwalsh
danfowler: I linked to two libs there
      • danfowler
        the first
      • pwalsh
i see you were using the one in openspendingjs, I'm also just wondering about the status of the other one
