        Hi. Anyone awake? :)
      • Freso
        Nope.
      • chaophim
Damn. Not having a technical support problem, just wantd to report some stuff about a couple of oblivion mods being misreported in Loot. Tried posting to the Beth forums but just created the account and it isn't letting me post, so figured I'd try here. :)
      • Freso
        Sure.
      • Well, the *best* place to report such things is actually not the forums, nor here.
      • I realise that you will probably need to also make an account there, but apart from actually adding the data to the masterlist yourself and making a pull request, GitHub issues is the closest you can get to it.
      • Even the forum is a step further removed (albeit a small stuff).
      • chaophim
Okay - cool. Saves you some headache and I don't mind making an account there. Made a few mods myself, so it will come in handy for reporting my own ESPs, etc., in the future too. :)
      • Freso
Also, I'm *always* here (pretty much), so even if I'm not around to answer things, I *will* read any questions etc. eventually - so don't bother asking if people are around, just ask what you need to ask, and someone (probably me...) will get around to answering eventially.
      • Ah. If you're down with making mods, you might also be confident enough to edit the masterlist directly yourself.
      • Check https://github.com/loot/loot.github.io/wiki/How... and see if that's sounds way too scary.
      • If not, I'll be happy to help get you set up as best I can.
      • Editing the masterlist directly (and submitting patches/making pull requests) is the #1 best way of reporting mistakes/omissions in the masterlist. ;)
      • chaophim
Somewhat confident - in my write-up for these errors, I made sure to list the TES4Edit version I was using just in case someone wanted/neded to slap the back of my head and say "That version is older than a caveman fart, dude - use THIS version instead"
      • Freso
        :)
      • chaophim
Ahh - forking. Sounds like my bases are covered there. :D
      • I <3 Notepad ++, so just need the account and Github for Windows, it seems.
      • Freso
I've always noted the version I've used as well, but mostly so that it'll be possible to look at them in the future and say "oh, there's been a gazillion releases of *Edit since these values were submitted, I should rescan them".
      • :)
      • (Note that while I'm fairly adept at using Git and pretty familiar with the concepts and technicalities going on "behind the scenes", it's a long, long time since I was a regular Windows user, so I won't be much help in Windows specific Git behaviour.)

I tried editiing the metadata, but it wouldn't take my entries or let me edit the existing.
      • Freso
Where did you try to edit it?
      • Oh, in LOOT itself?
      • I've never really used the metadata editor in LOOT...
      • I've just edited the masterlist directly. :$

      • https://github.com/loot/fallout3/commit/18611b1... is how I add *Edit version data when adding to the masterlist, if you want some inspiration.

I know what you mean - big Linux fan here but till they come up with good working ports for my favorite games, I'm stuck dual booting or being a 'windows weenie'.. :( Wish Bethesda would take a cue from the id company they absorbed - they realased a Linux executable for Q3A that allowed native play without Wine/Transgaming/Virtual Machines/etc.,
      • My main workings with the metadata have just been for my own mods, really, like a WIP item renaming mod. LOOT (obviously) knows nothing about my mod, so it flings it up somewhere in the list and I wind up with other mods overwriting it. 'show conflicting' doesn't always show some of the overwriting mods, so I edit the metadata to fling it in behind the lowest 'known' mod.

I'll need to update the page and add it to the sidebar once the next beta is released. 02http://git.io/uthV0Q

It was pretty much LucasArts that made me stop using IRC - I used to run the world's biggest Full Throttle fansites and hung out with other fansite sysops, etc., When LEC shut down their adventure games department to focus mainly on the Star Wars teat, the community all but folded and the IRC channel dried up to a handful of regulars and a bunch of bots. lol
      • Them cancelling Full Throttle: Hell On Wheels after teasing it TWICE at different E3s didn't help either. *shrug*
      • Freso
        :/
      • Well, feel free to become a regular here.
      • It's pretty low traffic, but you get to be kept in the loop with any changes that happen in/with LOOT as they happen. ;)
      • chaophim
May do that till booted... I've had a few ideas that I'd like to see for LOOT but I'm not a coder (even though I mod, I can't script - only programming language I really know is Commodore BASIC) so my suggestions might be wild theories that eventually annoy. :) j/k
      • Freso
Well, they'll forever remain your wild theories and never become practice if you don't suggest them. :)
      • chaophim
        True
      • OK. :D Got github set up, forked the repository, cloned the fork to the desktop app. :) Now ready to do some (localised) damage as I surf this learning curve. hehehe
      • ummm...
      • which file am I looking for here?
      • All I have found so far is masterlist.schema.yaml and that doesn't look like it contains any mod info, correct or otherwise.
      • Ooooh - think I found my problem. lol
      • I forked the loot page instead of the /oblivion page. lemme try that.
      • Freso
(Sorry. I'm busy playing Minecraft right o
      • chaophim
Well, whatta you know? Works. *slaps head*
      • Freso
*now, so not very responsive. I'll check back in a bit. :))
      • chaophim
's okay - I was about to go play around in Oblivion myself for a bit to clear my head. :)
