        I'm not particularly familiar with the .rpm packages, but at least the .deb packages do a bit of work before installing the final bits of the service.

        There's a startup.options file that might be in use
      • Also check /etc/sysconfig/logstash if there are any memory settings there.

      • I would expect it to not start the service due to this and not just have half of an install
