im testing logstash input exec but cant find a way to really catch the message and feed it to ES. the exec input gets registered and the script is run as scheduled, but nothing else. what could I be missing?

Xylakant, i have a default ES output, yes, every other input (redis, http_poller, jdbc) works fine

I'd start with a trivial config, just the exec input and an stdout output and see what it generates.

it should output to the logstash-plain.log, right?

okay, I added just output { stdout {} }

it should output to stdout, if you start logstash via init or systemd or whatever, it's likely that stdout gets captured.

okay, running in the foreground now, lets see
