can someone share with me... about kafka-python relation... can i do everything with python like i would with scala or java?

and... if i use python in storm topology on the other side of kafka... can i expect decrease in performance? or can i be as "fast" as with scala or java?
so my goal is to connect kafka and storm ... and glue all this with python
