Hi, I asked this , like 4 or 5 years ago and still is a problem.
      • When browsing to https://www.joyent.com/pricing/cloud/compute , it requires GOOGLE's scripts, just to diplay PRICES of Triton cloud..
      • Is it really really needed for Joyent uses oversight, spying and rely information to competition, just to be able to display PRICES?
      • Doesn't whole Joyent cloud does not have appropriate services to replace those Google services, even for such an important thing as displaying PRICES to new possible customers of Joyent?
      • Maybe I shouldn't do this but I shoudl send some mail to some management I don't know..

Just start a private/incognito window and that way they won't have access to any of your information and you'll erase all theirs once you close the window?

miggyb, it is ,like, interesting workaround, that 99,5% of visitors wouldn't use. Yet question really is qhy Joyent is doing this for years.
      • It is not "just" the question of visitor and future and present customer's privacy.
      • It is a question of mere inability to function as s company without Google, that is info I am getting with this, even it is not technically so, practically it is.
      • So it is someone's JOB for years to manage things not to go into competition's hand and not doing it for years.
      • So I conclude I need to write a letter somewhere else and complain about company's customers going to google, for just web design problems.
      • Even with that workaround, my IP goes to Google..
      • miggyb
Not trying to solve things for 99.5% of visitors, trying to solve things for you ;)
      • also not a Joyent employee, fwiw

miggyb, nice thanks. did't work. Patient still leaks IP to Google :P

well google analytics is an industry standard for having at least some data on how people use your website there are similar tools but without third party script inclusion it isn't really possible to run those
      • not a Joyent employee as well ... just a realistic user of web ;)
      • this is reallly unrelated to pricing this is a generic web analytics service and IMO google has quite straight conditions under which this data is collected and who can access and use those

Is it possible to use a nginx proxy to forward (proxy_redirect) calls to cloudapi? Has someone tried this before?
      • nikolam
"google analytics is an industry standard" - only for those that care not about privacy. Realistically, those relying on Google's scripts for site visiting statistics are there to be badly surprised with people not running Google's scripts.
      • Web analitics can be done without depending on third party tools. Main reason for existance of third party tools like Google.s is reprival of privacy and spying on competition in this case.
      • They got info on your customers before you got, they got first to the customer. Even worse thing goes for cable companies spying on internet users at the same point of their internet connection.
      • It is related to scripting, because once you stop third-party scripting with tool like Noscript for Firefox, you realize how badly site owners think of their customers and how their sites are dependable on third party functionality.
      • And that is all nasty security and functional vulnerability for both site owners , customers and visitors.
      • Not displaying PRICES of the services you sell, without third-party service from the competitor's site is clearly no-brainer obstacle/fuckup.
