I have a time series whose source failed for a couple days, and so has no datapoints. If I do an integral over that time period it goes a bit nuts - I can't tell, but it seems like maybe it keeps adding the last filled value over the missing period ... is that expected? does this make sense? do I need to do something special to handle integrals over missing data?

I guess what it's doing is taking i.e. a value of 0 on Monday, the next value of 1000 on Friday, and integrating under the straight line from 0 to 1000 over 5 days
