i get little enough email to be able to read most emails in my inbox, so it doesn't hurt
but yeah, so the biggest thing was moving most discussion to irc/github
because that enables anyone to engage
but it also keeps a running record of all things going in the organization
one of the things he found is people become less stuck in their views when having open discussions online
because (1) they know the argument is being discussed with the world, and (2) (i'm assuming this one) people become less biased when having to explicitly articulate their biases
and i actually really want to experiment with this
hardmath123: schweet, don't have anything that day
can you pm me the address so i can add it to my calendar?
will do my best to be there
maxw: btw i fixed the bots
steward is no longer allowed to do commit notifications, github has a built-in irc thing that'll automatically do it
that's who dinobot is

this is a pretty good opportunity to recruit for hshackers/hackedu
you'll end up with like 30+ kids who are excited about code and want to meet people
zrl
yup, and it'll also be fun to help new people get into coding :-)
awesome!
there's something really gratifying about that moment when someone uses code to do something they didn't know they could do
that spark in their eye

btw, zrl: if you guys need a space in palo alto-- we
we've a big house you can use.
zrl
will definitely hit you up for that, we occasionally have meetings down in palo alto and it's a pain having to take the caltrain back before we can get back to work. thanks!
