how is initial metadata different from trailing metadata?

is initial metadata sent with every request? or only the first?

i'm new to grpc, i'm trying to create a couple of basic services, however i cannot find a way to create a service that returns nothing

there's maybe one workaround, which is to create an empty type and use that as a return struct, but i would really like to avoid that

if anyone has any idea what i'm talking about, please let me know

believe you need an empty type
