So I guess Apple's network MIDI implementation was actually standardized before it was Apple's :)

and then they just added Bonjour for discovery

I guess Bluetooth LE is a bit of a different beast

in that you pair with a Bluetooth device

and it represents a pretty fixed device-to-device conversation

rather than one that could potentially be multicast or rewired on the fly

I don't quite understand why the puc only provides a DIN connector for MIDI, rather than also USB MIDI

but I guess it's because it has no bwains in it

but it seems to me a modern Raspberry Pi with a USB-MIDI DIN dongle would be a lot more useful for modern controllers if there's anything to the "everything should be wireless" rhetoric
